Hi all

I will be helping my friend look for a Vantage,Possibly new or 6 months. I'm guessing good time to look atm. As number plates are changing.

He currently has a 6 series, unsure if he wants a coupe or a roadster.

I'm guessing there are deals to be had on Both models? and to take list prices with a pinch of salt.

Is there any must have options for a vantage? The 6 has just about every toy going so im sure things like parking cameras and so on will be wanted.

Apart from that he car is a blank canvas. He likes a few colours from black, grey, white to blue. So this might help with 6 month or stock cars.

I have just ordered a copy of The Definitive Guide to Gaydon-era ASTON MARTIN for him to look over.

Thanks for your help I'm sure I will have tons more questions.

If he is coming from a 6-Series he needs to settle into the idea that the tech is showing its age and also that the cars come with a choice of Manual or Automated Manual (Sportshift on Paddles). There is no proper Auto as he would know it. It is quite a different proposition but great to drive once you get your head around that. Quality is pretty good, ergonomics less so. Noise is superb with or without the fuse pulled.

Look at Vantage S variants with the SPORT button for extra grin factor.

Fundamentally he needs to decide Roadster or Coupe, Manual or Sportshift. In the latter case a test drive is required in order to choose.

Whether buying factory order or lightly used will depend on whether he wants or is happy to live with a BLACK interior (almost certainly with silver contrast stitching). If you look at used Vantage S models right now EVERY one has a black interior. To deviate from this will likely require a factory order.

Deals are possible. Likely not on a ueed Rosdster since there is only one S in the AM dealer network right now. I am told dealers are not readily dicounting used stock. The bigger discount will come on a new, unregistered STOCK car with a dealer looking to sell a new unit and reach target. Again in this case one must potentially compromise on colour, trim and spec. If you get offered a deal on a stock car you could push for the same on a factory order and you never know. But then you have to wait (5 months in my case)

Thank you for your speedy reply.

I think he knows about the tech. As long as he has front a rear sensors and cameras I think he will be fine. As does not use much of the 6 tech.

I did notice a lot have black and grey. We are going to a dealer on Sat for a test drive.

So best to see what showroom and stock cars dealer have and then try to push for a new order if needs be. I have noticed on a few broker sites a rough discount on new cars that make a factory order quite close to a 6 month car. Is there a target price I should be looking at trying to get under. (I know spec can effect that but generally for a V8 coupe sat nav and a cameras?

Thanks

If sticking with the S variant then Sat Nav, Bluetooth and Cruise are standard. These are options on the standard Vantage (though always fitted on demo/stock cars).

To be specified as options on both variants are Heated and Memory Seats, Premium Audio, Reversing Camera and Front Parking Sensors. That is pretty much the extent of the tech available!

You may find an SP10 variant available lightly used which is basically a Vantage S which has a few more of the above toys as standard fitted.

I would expect to be able to beat those broker prices on the right stock car at the right dealer at the right time.

I was wondering what a Sp10 was, Shame they dint do them in blue. Might even look at N430

Thank you very much, So best to look for a stock S and hope can get a good deal on it smile

Will update this thread if I need any more help or if we get one smile Thanks again

My daily driver is a 6 Gran Coupe and I have a V8S in the garage. I think I can comment smile

There are deals on new ones but the best deals will be in December. Even if you buy new well they drop 10k as you leave the forecourt, and more like 20k. I know from experience!

Options wise on an S, typically upgraded hifi is a must, heated memory seats, after that its probably one of the wheel upgrades (the plain silver V spoke can look a little tame, the graphite one looks better) and then its getting into personal taste e.g. the piano black interior.

If he has a diesel 6, then expect to spend twice as much on fuel. I get 40+ out of mine and only 20 out the Aston.

I do indeed, We have met with John a few times to look at DB9's and Vantages over the years. I also went and took some photos when he had an F40 and F50.

We are not related really (probably some ware down the line could be with such a uncommon name)
