A simple question to those who had it done.
I'm putting my hand in my pocket for performance manifolds (ceramic coated) with 200 cell cats but sticking with the original backbox.
How is it to live with?
Valves open, there are loads of video's and stuff and I can see how much fun they are with the noise and extra juice it gives a recent 4.7.
Not much info on normal driving with valves closed. Your experience and opinions would be appreciated relating to noise.

I have a similar set up on Johnny
I now have it set so the valves are open on hot and cold starts (for the bark wink )
I also have them set to stay closed all the time until I hit the sport button when they are open ALL the time.
I like this because when they are open all the time the OEM back box keeps it quiet enough to gently burble around town, but all hell breaks loose when you press the "loud" pedal
Take the sport button out and it goes in to stealth mode and is very civilised on the M Way

On a pre MY12.25 car you could set the "comfort" button to do the same

Cheers Mikey.
So not too loud and "droning" on long journeys? Did you have any discussion or opinion on ceramic coating?

As long as you have a switch to control the OEM back box bypass valves you can't go wrong. Hounds of hell when required (which for me was most of the time) and civilised/stealth mode when valves active (wife in car mode). No droning even with valves open on a motorway cruise. Can't comment on merits of ceramic coating. My 4.7 V8V was set up by the guys at BR who get my vote thumbup

I have the same setup on TeaSpn. Would not change it for the world! Love the exhaust switch, means I still have friends in my neighbours, further up the road, switch opened and unleash - hell fire...
NOT forgetting the performance transformation - words finish here smile
You won't regret it!

Nope very GT on the Mway I did 950 miles in one day with sport off
Ceramics help gas flow a bit If you are talking about the BR set up ask for the high cross sectional area cats they firs fitted to Johnny
The higher area deepens the tone and makes it less "raspy"

Another vote from me: manifolds, cats and OEM 4.3 backbox.

Get the 3-way switch fitted: open, closed or controlled by ECU (ie OEM). Therefore you can chose the noise level to fit your mood. Hooligan or slightly calmer. If I'm on the motorway, cruise on and valves shut. Whisper quiet.
