You're right, the guy before me lost over £50k in 11 months and 800 miles ....I only lost £22k in 14 months. Bargain eh....
,your car lost 72k in 2 years ? (although dealer margin will account for a chunk) a car easily available for £115k new .Sounds like the first guy paid over the odds and you paid too much tbh,and compared to some cars .. I lost 20k on the v10 m6 in 6 months and I was offered a 6 month old £240k bentley for £130k by a dealer ,so it isnt as bad as you make out.
Most people who spend 100k plus on cars get their fingers badly burned by depreciation.
Anyway ,you can buy 6 month old turbo for £130k which factoring dealer margin means you would have lost 20k + in 6 months if you bought anew one.

The porsche is 'oh holy fk' quick ,but not sure where you can use it ,left me cold when I drove it and a gtr does the same thing for half the money and is far cooler and actually feels a bit more involving.
since the 997 the turbo has always been the least satisfying 911 to own I thought.

I've just posted this in the thread on the main article but thought it worth pasting here

I've just returned from a 3,000 mile road trip to the Alps and Northern Italy in my V12 Roadster ('pre-S' so a manual car)

I think it's only on trips like these that you can really understand the appeal (I've had my roadster for 18 months now, as my second car, covering c. 17,000 miles in the process)

The convoy of friends comprised Ferrari 430 coupe manual, Ferrari 458 spider, Ferrari California, Nissan GTR (650 bhp), 2x F type V8s (one roadster, one coupe), Porsche 991 S Coupe PDK, Aston vanquish coupe (new style), Aston V12 Vantage Coupe, Lamborghini Gallardo 570 Superleggera coupe, Porsche Carrera GT and my own roadster

On paper, mine is one of the slowest cars of the group. In reality, on the alpine passes, speed is more down to driver ability and road conditions than the car's ability. But I'd suggest I had at least if not more fun than most of the other drivers, with the intoxicating noise, the much more pleasant (to my eyes) and certainly more interesting interior plus the pleasure of having to think more about how to control the car as opposed to say the 458 which does it much more for you

We visited Imola where mine is one of the least likely track cars but I covered c. 40-50 laps throughout the day and yes, again my car wasn't the quickest but it was far from embarrassed, stood up tot eh rigours of the trackday well and again, the fun I had with a manual car which needs more driver input/skill to pilot round than many of the others on the group was for me a positive, not a negative

Now of course the other cars are great too and all have their advantages - I'm not saying mine was the best car. But it was the best for me, it never felt outclassed or underpowered and it just heightened my ownership satisfaction doing a trip like this. It won't win a game of top trumps but that's not why I bought it - the GTR was easily the fastest car of the group on most aspects of the trip (though the brakes didn't hold up to the track day well and the 458 was possibly a little quicker on track) but it holds zero ownership interest for me.

It doesn't surprise me that a back to back test of Porsche turbo against Aston V12 comes up with the results that it did but I struggle to imagine I would have enjoyed my trip last week nearly as much if I'd been in a Porsche turbo, despite for instance it having huge performance advantages through the 4WD traction on the uphill switchbacks. Much more fun to work hard in the Aston to keep up than let the car do it all for you ! I will fully concur however it's a very personal issue.

Hi Frankie, yes. First guy paid list as it was new, I paid £100k, down from the £106k advertised. I didn't pay too much.

It was a 61 plate. Cant quote fathom where you can pick up a new V12V for £115 ?.

£100k doesnt sound wrong ,maybe it was timing when you sold it ? No idea of prices now,but when I was last looking I was offered a carbon black brand new at £115k and before that a regular one at that price.
I've alwAys thought no one pays list for a new Aston or Bentley .

If you do mean the V12V then I picked mine up brand new for £106K. Always a deal to be done, especially when a newer model (V12VS) is announced.

Indeed.

I paid a fair bit less than that for mine.

Yes, I realise that. Timing.
No new model announced back in Spring 2012.
New models are bound to affect residuals, they were all around that price for similar mileage, under 12 months old.
You pay less for 'older' model as new one comes out, you get bent over when you try to sell it. Horses for courses.
