Just done it, went surprisingly well! The doors and map lights are a piece of wee-wee, but the footwell lights need complete commitment ie you've got to get inverted and stuff your head down there. And have a microfibre cloth handy to cover the bulbs with to pull them out, otherwise they're fecking hot to touch!

Many thanks to Sam for providing me with the bulbs, a true gent. Makes the interior look a touch more modern. Lovely. I refuse however to post photos of my midriff whilst mid change, just not what you want to see over Sunday lunch!

Gentlemen,
This looks fabulous.
Well done all.
QUESTION:
Looking at the link to the supplier, it appears these items might be available in different colours.
Ignoring the "traditionalist" question, would I be correct in thinking that, subject to me finding a Victtorian chimney climber, I could create a red, green or blue hue for my foot wells ?
Grazie.

Went out today and noticed one of my interior lights wasn't on. (If it had been the old ones I wouldn't have seen it) Guess which one it is......yep the passenger footwell!! what pain in the *%$^%$£$%$$%&&& those are.

So ordered a couple more bulbs and I'll have another go at being a contortionist.... yikes

That's concerning. LED's should last the lifetime of the car and yours have gone in less than a year.

I'll put a new bulb in and see how long it lasts. Hopefully longer then 9 months this time. First I'll see if the new bulb actually works in the foot well, fingers crossed it isn't anything more serious??

I thought I would put the old bulb back in to check the it wasn't a power issue. So I put the old bulb back as a temporary measure and it worked fine.

I was surprised at how dim the light was from the old bulb, so I'm looking forward to getting the replacement LED and fitting it.

Just had a quick check and bulbs are only guaranteed for 7 months, if I'm reading the information correctly. Hopefully the new one will last a lot longer than that?

Yes, it's possible, but I went a little further. I replaced all the interior lighting with blue LED's.

I know it's a bit marmite, but I love it.

Anyone tried replacing the bulbs in the non-visible-in-daylight ones in the instrument panel of a DB7 i6 Volante?

Just to update a little this excellent thread, since it's in the FAQS too.

Today I replaced all the bulbs I could find with LEDs:

- Puddle/door lights, two C5W 36mm (one in each door)

- Trunk lights, two C10W 42mm

- License plate lights, two W5W max 20mm or they won't fit

- I have since found a better custom part for the whole license lights assembly, please take a look at this thread.

- Footwell lights, same as license, two W5W max 20mm or they won't fit

Being MY 2011, map/reading lights were already LEDs in my case.

I went with a whiter colour temperature, 6000K. The linked bulbs are the one I bought and confirmed to fit, shipping has been pretty quick and quality is good.

Can someone help please? I have removed the unit from the liner but cannot see how to extract the white angled bulb holder from the back of the unit.

As a new member to the forum I've really enjoyed reading the write ups on changing the interior bulbs for LED. I take delivery of my 2006 DB9 Volante in a few weeks and are wondering if everything you describe will be the same on my model. If so I would give it a go.

Yes, many thanks. I tried twisting it before posting the question but did not want to force it. Knowing that is the method, I was more confident it would not break and it seemed much easier. Fitted the map reading lights and what a difference. It makes the interior look more classy. Also did the door lights. Tried to replace the floor well lights. I got the whole bulb unit away from the housing but cannot see how to get to the bulb itself. There are spring clips but no amount of pushing, pulling or prising seems to work. An earlier post talks about removing the bulb holder from the back but how? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Had another go at the footwell lights and managed it this time. For others doing this, the bulb holder twists off like the others. Why I could not do it before, I don't know. Getting it back in is another challenge. Not sure mine is tightly in but the bulb is in the housing and shining brightly! Off to see the chiropactor in the morning after all the back bending and twisting.

I had to lay on my back (Said the actress to the bishop), shimmy my body so my head was just a few inches away from the light casing, lucky they both unclipped quick, not fun but the end result was worth it, got mine as a complete set off eBay, a few quid more but they were all correct.
