I have finally decided I am responsible enough to own an Aston after 6 years of 911 ownership. I went down to the local AM dealer this morning having seen a nice Vantage on their website, but fell for this which had only been traded in this morning. It is a "showcase" model (probably sales bull) but has quite a few extras and carbon fibre splitter and diffuser. The noise of it passed the "loin tingling test" (guys will know what I mean) so I had to have it. I pick it up next saturday so be prepared for some numpty questions. Apologies for the poor quality pic but I understand it's illegal to do your first post here without it - I have been lurking incognito for a while but now I can finally come out!!

Congratulations Jon on your move over from the Dark side smile. Looks like a lovely beast. Yes you are quite right the sound is addictive! We look forward to you getting to grips with your camera phone next weekend and turning off the sepia filter on your camera phone laugh

Factory tour is wonderful, highly recommended! Also the Performance Driving Course from the AM factory team (called PDC), it will teach you everything your car can really do, needs booking months in advance smile
Best thing I ever did... Worth the price

Many congratulations! There is such a thing as a showcase edition... and it comes with the lightweight seats and a few other bits of spec that no doubt someone on the forum will know better than I. Enjoy and delighted to see a new owner.

OK, just to finish off the introduction I collected the car yesterday. Thanks to Mark for a great experience and I now know there really is a showcase car ;-) Had great fun yesterday and I hope I slowed down in time when I spotted the camera van...

Here is the car at home and my new iPad wallpaper

Looks very nice, congratulations. Mine's a showcase model and was only thinking the other day that I have never heard anyone mention one on here before.

Congrats indeed

My first car was a 'showcase' Vantage V8 roadster - since then I've had the V8S roadster and now the V12 roadster.

The 'showcase' cars weren't well publicised so to my knowledge, there's no literature although you can find the odd official reference to them such as in some of the aston/amoc books & registers

Essentially what happened was that a year or 2 after the V8 size increase, a raft of new options were introduced - I forget exactly which so this list won't be entirely accurate but it was things like clear rear lenses, n400 sills, some interior trim, sportspack, lightweight seats, etc. The showcase cars came very fully loaded including all the new options plus some existing ones and often came in higher cost colours (mine was quantum)

The deal in my instance was along the lines of buy this unregistered new car for basic list price, getting what amounted to around £22-24k of options for free. IIRC I therefore paid around £97k for a £120k+ cost car.

From what I can remember,

Sportpack suspension/wheels.
Different mesh.
Memory seats.
Premium Audio.
Clear lights/Skirts.
Bluetooth/Cruise, not sure if these are std anyway.
Bright finish grill.
Mine doesn’t have lightweight seats.
