Some might say 'A glutten for punishment' they are probably right. Any road up, I've asked Donington about Fridays in March, they have one available the 13th, or Monday 30th, the noise limit is lower than Snetterton, also the price is quite a bit higher,,,,,your thoughts gentlemen please:

Hello Bob,
I have looked into these dates for you and unfortunately we do not have any availability on the dates you have requested.
We do however have availability on Friday March 13th 2015 and Monday March 30th 2015. These days are quiet days so our noise is limited to 98db.

The cost of one of these days would be £12,950+ Vat. Includes all services - marshals, medical etc and use of Paddock 1 and the garages.

Instructors fees total £725 if we need them.

Seems very expensive.....Bob..you would be black flagged at the start....any other venues available without so much restriction?

Hello Bob
Is that 98db static or drive-by?

I just remember we had quite a lot of snow (in kent) on the 11th March in 2013.
On that basis I'd be fairly wary of committing to that much money for that time of year

Shall I give Silverstone a chance to quote? I am trying to find somewhere reasonably central, reasonably priced and for weather reasons, preferably a weekday at the end of March.

PS: If a circuit is unserviceable thru' weather, all costs are refunded.

I don't think they had snow in the midlands but kent/northern france was knackered. In that situation the circuit would be open.
It's just a rather unpredicatable time of year is all I'm sayingsmile

Indeed, a couple of us were saying exactly that the other day when discussing potential other venues. They're worrying about a couple of db here or there and the M1 and airport are just over the fence, I'm guessing it's local council driven more than the circuit.

It's a fair point Pete and we were lucky this year at Rockingham - rain the night before and quite cold but a nice sunny day for the time on track. I'm guessing the costs are more appealing in the early spring/autumn months? Either way, I'm happy to try another circuit, nothing wrong with what we've tried so far, both days have been great fun.

How about Castle Combe?? It's just off the M4, gets better weather than the Midlands. 105dB static noise test. And it's fast and flowing. thumbup

Like it J12 MOC.

Missed Snetterton as it was too far and have just watched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCCPynuWjuY so am well up for it.

Yep it's ridiculous. I presume it's council related.

Bob, why don't you have a look at Anglesey. Awesome circuit and I don't think it's too much to hire. Some good roads around there too.

I can't make either of those dates in March, unfortunately.

And I would much, much prefer a 105dB day. My car only just scraped through the noise limit at Snetterton (104dB!) and I was expecting to be black flagged during the day. But we all seemed to get away with it and it would have been a different day if we all had had to mute our backboxes.

Definitely up for Castle Combe! Not that being based in Bristol would make me biased at all....

The noise limit at Snetts was 105. My DBS rattled in at........ 105. Donnington may give me a problem. Yes, I could deploy "the switch" but where's the fun in that. Joking apart, my Business partner's V12S would exceed that as a standard car, so we'd struggle to be honest.

The best thing about Mallory is the cafe. The circuit is boring!
