Bite 'em. It does seem once a month you come along for a rant. The detailing thread springs to mind. Is it because Mrs Bite 'em is off out shagging the neighbour and you are a little grumpy or simply because you need a trolling fix. Either way AFAIK this thread has opened the eyes of a few people which is good. FWIW I have a client who runs four GT Porkers at the "ring" and always specs steels as IHO CCM's are a PITA so perhaps the advice from BM isn't so bad after all. We all drive differently. Tony Hall is convinced his are fine, well of course they are, he spends most of his time parked in petrol stations yes At the end of the day we need to see your credentials to make your comments credible. LETS SEE "EM. As you can see I have nothing to hide. Finally I have spent far too much time at BR over the last two months. Naming and shaming rules prevent me naming the supplier that was the root cause of the problem but suffice to say BR are not doing this because they are short of work. Look forward to reviewing your CV.

There was never a "180", it's just that your ability to read is nearly as poor as your grammar.

I posted that until recently pads and discs were supplied separately. My point has always been that your "advice" differed from the manufacturer's procedure but hey, what do Aston Martin know? Same with Maclaren, who also appear to know less than you.
If you are going to post about accuracy and grammar make sure you are Teflon coated, it's McLaren not maclaren
BM thanks for your input

Well put AMDBSNick, when we need advice on something we don't understand we go to someone with that knowledge, if we are sick a doctor, if it's our car a mechanic.
To date there is one person on this thread who has worked at AM and who runs an independant AM garage frequented by many on here because they trust that garages knowledge and skill set and there is one person who seem to have knowledge of everything in the world.
Until I am shown something to make me change my mind I know which one I have the confidence to trust in especially as his comments have been mirrored by the AM dealer I referred to earlier.

Still think it is a shame that some threads have to turn out like this.

Not at all, to date you have been vocal in telling people how they are totally wrong on two differing threads, detailing and mechanics.
Please let us all know where your knowledge stems from and your background and then maybe we will be more inclinded to lend some credence to your comments.
I think all of us on here are able to follow a discussion and come to our own informed conclusions based on the information provided and the credibility of those providing it which I don't believe would be the definition of sheep.

If the CCM were replaced for steel, would this be a straight replacement? Also, could new pads just be fit to the existing callipers?

This may be a fix so that the cars can carry on being enjoyed without exorbitant cost and the CCM could be put back on before selling?

Would this work and if so approx how much do you think it would cost to replace all 4 discs and pads?

I am not technical so may be talking bks, please go easy on me.
Is there an answer to this?

I intend to keep this car and steels may be an option as i posted.

Probably unlikely dealer would swap for steel as wouldn't be OEM.

Seems like only real alternative that would prevent having pants pulled down every 20k miles or so.

Well that's the norm then.....someone has a different opinion.....gets called a troll......predictable.....and shameful.....

On another note I found certain posts aimed at me offensive , rude , and bullish......do I get an apology or an email.....seems one rule for one etc etc.....and let it be noted I also think the advice given is not entirely correct but then again I'm just a teenager who knows nothing...so will wait until I have spoken to the experts on the matter....but have already been informed by a mechanic friend of mine that a slightly dis coloured disc after a track day is not un common and quite normal esp as the brake function has not been affected .....his words after driving my car and doing a number of emergency stops.....
I have no more to say on the matter until I have had discs inspected etc....
Will let you know about report....

My background? Just assume I know nothing.

One thought however; how come BamfordMike doesn't know what the official procedure was to commission CCM discs? Strange that he keeps avoiding this.

CCM discs have been around for a while so presumably his vast experience pre-dates the relatively recent change to disc/pad kits. He should know this, yes?
