Hi

Is there any way of manually opening the car with a dead battery. I have no access to boot or anything. Car stood for just 12 days. Tried both fobs.

Any advice appreciated.
Thanks Mark

Guess you don't have the slim key for the door?

Ok in now with ignition key but only via passenger door. Drivers door would not unlock and wont even open from in side. Is this correct!

Thanks
Mark

After this experience I am going to invest in a new battery. Have done a number of searches and am considering Varta AGM. Can anyone confirm this one is ok? Searches for a 2008 V8V simply show the calcium battery dor my car. Also if anyone could confirm that I should have been able to access the drivers door with metal key even without power, then I can take that up with my dealer/warranty.

Thanks
Mark

The key should work on both doors. What if the car had been inside a garage and parked too close to the wall to get in via the passenger door?

Can anyone help me confirm the battery above will be ok? AGM type Varta for V8V 2008.
I am now up and running having had to pull fuse 83 to reset door module. I still think I have a manual door lock problem to be investigated by dealer.

Any advice on battery welcome thanks
Mark

the bosch S4 is far better option imho

cheaper, longer warranty and longer life span

Is there only one type of Bosch S4 or is there a specific model number to fit the V8V? Also, is it a relatively easy DIY job to replace and is there anything we need to do before/after replacing the battery? Many thanks for your help.

Its straightforward, but a pain removing the bit of trim to allow the battery to come out.

This one fits so I guess you can use as a reference

this is an AGM one but a Bosch S6 ??

I had the same problem. I forgot to plug in the battery tender. Luckily, I managed to get in. I now have two leads running from the battery, through a rubber grommet next to the battery, to the underside of the car. It is attached to the cross member. If the battery is dead, I can now charge it from under the car without opening anything.

+1

Maybe an extension cable from under the car into the house, maybe even up to your bedroom, you could them switch the extra charge on from the luxury of laying in your bed laugh

I'm off to collect a new battery from the dealer on Saturday (V12V). If you can wait, I'll post what it was when I get it home.

I'll also pass a few objective comments on how easy it is to replace with half a toolset. House being decorated at the moment and I NO idea where anything is .. !

My car was flat as a fluke after 12 days so I am assuming the battery is not at it's best. Haven't got around to ordering new and replacing yet as have been away. Car is on the conditioner which is indicating green.

Car is booked into dealer as everyone suggests I should have been able to unlock the drivers door with metal key but I couldn't. I got in through passenger side but drivers door still didn' t open from inside until all power restored.

Have read the posts on battery change but I willl just have to go for it as some say remove side trim whilst others not. Also unsure how to locate rear lower panel fasteners. I think they are under carpet on the junction between rear panrel and floor carpet but all carpets appear firmly fixed down so need to think it through before ripping at them.

Any photos or experience shared from your attempts would be grateful and when I het round to it I hope to post pics to help others.

Update to V8V coupe battery replacement.

The help posted from the workshop manuals was great but the following additional pointers may help others.

I went for a Varta H3 Silver which after a discount code came in at less than £80 delivered.

The drivers side floor carpet has to be pulled quite hard from under the vertical rear panel to reveal 2 fixings which need removal. Rather than the advice of disconnect the battery early on, I left this until last to ensure I could actually complete the job and commit to it. Be careful working around connected battery though.
After top and bottom fastenings are removed from rear vertical panel, it is best pulled forward from the centre tunnel side as the other side is tucked behind leather and carpet trim behind door. You have to also release bottom plastic lugs from beneath a flimsy plastic cover and over some fastening studs to wriggle this out.
Regarding the two aluminium extruded clamps, loosten four torx screws fully and they slide towards drivers door. Remove battery overclamp first. They will hit the side trim but just pull/flex the trim forward and they slide behind. Wriggle the end down a bit and they will come off the track. Don,t forget to remove and retain elbow for vent tube. There was no need to remove side panel behind drivers door.
If anyone else is attempting this only too glad to help further having completed. About time I am able to offer something back into forum as it has offered me loads of advice so far.

Oh, I also had to reset windows of course and my mirrors will need programming to auto fold at next trip to dealer. Previous flat battery sent digital speedo to kms which was resolved by read and trip button being pressed together for 3 seconds. That didn't re occur this time.
