Hi

New to AM ownership (May 2014) and this forum. Car in for Warrant of Fitness (MOT) and may need new indicator/light stalk (main beam switch doesn't stay on when you pull it up - if you know what I mean).
I can't see any immediate availability. Does anyone know if there is an alternative part (Ford/Mazda?) or another stalk from another model that will fit easily?

Aston Martin DB7
Year: 1997
Engine: 3.2

Thanks in anticipation and I look forward to having conversations on here.

Check the AMOC Bloxham forum, there's a link to a spreadsheet with all known common parts, as well as a stream of posts concerning updates to it.

Give Chiltern Aston a call - if anyone knows where to source a part, it'll be these guys. Wouldn't be surprised if they had one.

Thanks

My mechanic managed to fix the issue (main beam switch not staying on) so the need for a new stalk has disappeared.

Oops - repair got me through the Warrant - but it's stopped working again. Now the full beam flashes intermittently. Does anyone know if I can replace the original with a later model column? I'll have a look at the Bloxham spreadsheet (their forum is down at the moment - when I looked originally, I couldn't find a link to it - anyone got a link they can share?)

Thanks, Dave (p.s. I'm in New Zealand so I need to make sure anything I order is right before it gets shipped. Even fewer AMs on the road here - I've seen 2 others in the 6 months I've had mine)

Not sure if this helps but I'm pretty sure that it's the same part as on the Jaguar XK8.

They look very similar except for the inner most decals are missing on the Jag variant (although it is at a different angle) and of course the wiring loom connectors could well be different.

I noticed the indicator stalk on my 2000 DB7 Vantage was very similar to the one on my 2002 Jaguar XJR, the only visible difference is the one on the Aston has no Auto setting for the lights.

Possibly Jag had a poverty version of the XJ8 that had no provision for automatic lighting, maybe a police version.
