Rear parking sensors playing up. Orange light showing
Discussion
Got an 06 Vantage. Leant it to a mate and it has come back with a small issue. He swears he didn't press anything but the button/sign with P on it (next to the window heater button) has an orange light on it and now the parking sensors aren't beeping. Pressing the button does nothing - it won't move or take the light off. Any ideas?
In a MY 2010 (at least, possibly other years too) A faulty sensor is indicated by a three second beep if you engage reverse gear. This is to tell you the system is inactive.
If you are not getting that it suggests a faulty switch, I suppose the only way to find out for certain is to take it out and test it.
It's easy to identify a faulty sensor - I used an Aston martin approved empty toilet roll inner. Switch the ignition to "run" position then engage reverse gear and put the holder up against each sensor in turn listening for a steady clicking noise.
if one of them does not click it suggests a faulty sensor. If they all click its suggest the faulty switch.
Best wishes with it!

Sadly I was unable to located an AM-approved toilet roll, but even without it I managed to find which of the sensors is playing up, so thanks for the tip. So, I need a new rear sensor. Are they Aston Martin only items (or are they maybe out of a Ford parts bin?)
Inner or outer? I believe there is a difference IIRC - one is straight the other angled?Whichever it is i bought one from my AM dealer, it was less than £50. Took me around an hour to change, its a DIY job if you don't mind getting your hands slightly grubby (appreciating many on here will have their "man" do it nowadays, or there "ManWoman" for the politically correct
Found the part, inner

I would just double check the part number on removal of the old one.
