Hi All I drove 250 miles in the rain today. Now my headlights are all steamed up!
This was very common with most TVR's I've owned. But never thought this would happen with an Aston V8V. Is this common, and is there a fix please. Though I don't suppose there is. Second question regarding the temperature gauge. Where should the needle be? Mine was about a quater of the way up. Until i sat in bloody traffic for two hours on the M1 This morning. Then it went up to half way. Nice to know after all the stop starts that the car didn't over heat.
Dave.

Headlights - they all do that, it's a feature. smile
Temperature gauge should be in the middle. Suspect you have a faulty thermostat. Quite an easy fix it's even a diy job to some, see the FAQ's for details. Surprised they are still going faulty

Hi Neil. Thanks for the help. I thought the phrase "TADTS"....('They all do that sir') Was just for TVR's. How easy is it to get at the Thermostat please?
Dave.

Dave, you are confusing me with someone with oil under their fingernails smile . No idea, I took mine to the garage and got it done under warranty. The Frequently Asked Questions Wiki towards the top of the Aston forum has a picture of the thermostat and details of how to change it.
TADTS well known to Aston owners

Ok Neil. Thanks very much anyway. I've checked out the frequently asked questions. And the pics were very helpful. Can any garage do the work?
As I have a three months warranty with the car.So hoping not to have to take it to an Aston garage.
Dave

Can't see why any competent garage couldn't replace it. It's not buried in the engine. As it fails open you don't risk over heating the engine.

Nope! It fails to close and therefore runs cold. The rubber seal inside fails. Can be bought from Jaguar parts at half the AM cost.

Think you are both saying the same thing just in a different way.

Hypothetically speaking. If a permanent fix was available, how many would be prepared to buy it?
