Good find! So no need to change from original then

Agree with your pendulum analogy as well

I think I will put some carbon inserts, and keep the grey ones in a box, so I can always go back to original.
you'll never know.
I have just seen the winter wheels, they are the original V8 7 spokes in gun metal with Soto zero tyres. All is as new.
And I have choice between Bridgestone or Michelin summer tyres, but of what I can read on the several forums, I will go for the Michelin PSS.
About the pendulum, just let us hope it doesn't go too far on the other side.....

Thats interesting, my local dealers both said they would remove the Michelins from my car when I traded it in as they were not approved, the one I did the deal with did indeed swap them for Bridgestones before they sold it on.
Personally thought the Michelins were a much better tyre.

Yes, but what difference can it make if the tyres are approved or not? it's just a commercial deal between Bridgestone and AM, nothing involving security or anything of that kind. If the tyres have the correct specifications, (speed, charge)and mesurements, there will be no problem, including with the insurance.
As a matter of fact, this kind of "obligation" is forbidden by the European Union, because it could be assimilate to a forced sale and consumers don't have freedom of choice...

Stefwings I totally agree with you my comment was to the effect that it is different standards on the part of your dealer in comparison to my local ones.
Personally there would be no choice and I would be having the Michelins fitted.

I definitevely took a decision on the n400.
It seems that these models are pretty rare..400 isn't much for the entire world.
I didn't find another one (in order to compare prices) on any other web site...Even in the US.
So, I will take delivery around the twenty of december, but I'm not sure I will put it on the street immediately, snow and freezing wheater aren't really compatible with 400 BHP on two rear wheels...Even with winter tyres. In Belgium they have the habit to trow salt on the roads and this isn't a good way to treath paint and undercarriage of an expensive car.

Well done
Only 240 coupes world wide and one off Bergwerk Black paint as well
A lot of the chassis is aluminium so salt really isn't a good idea!

BTW that paint work needs a detailer to get rid of the swirl marks

Yes, the marks and swirls are also proof that the owner drove the car, it isn't a garage queen, and all the people and specialists I talked to told me it's way better to have a car running than a car sitting in a garage. (and the previous owner had to fix all the hic ups of the car....)
But AM Brussels will detail the car before it is delivered, with of course a complete polishing of the paint. (I included this in the deal)
So, this month is going to be a very long month...
And spring is still far away.....

just saw the plate on the door sill today, the car is numbered and it is one of the last ones of that special edition...# 237/240...Seems like the previous owner bought it just in time...
it's cool to buy a car from the dealer...OK, it's a little more expensive, but...I know the day of the car's birth...the exact day it was made, the day it was shipped to Belgium and the day it was sold. Not that it matters a lot but it's funny...
More important, I have all the records, bills and history of the car...sorry, MY car now...can't still beleive it. Owning a sports car is one thing, (I had a bunch of Porsches previously) but owning an Aston Martin is something else...it is a complete different world of anything else. including the Italian red cars...They are too "bling bling" for me.
but until Ford stept in, the Astons were too expensive and well, let's say not seriously build for a daily use if you know what I mean...
I understand you, guys, more and more every time I see my Vantage...
Time is passing by very slowly....laugh

I had a ride with a DB7 today...
Fun car, raisonnable power (6 cyl) but, too small for me inside, I hit the roof with my head, even wih the seat all the way down, I felt a lot better in my V8V. a way modern car (DB7 is based on an Jaguar XJS I think)

Hello,

I'm going to look at a N400 tomorrow and have been reading a bit on this forum over past few weeks.

curious about your comment of benefiting from a years warranty.

What tends to or has been known to go wrong with these?

The car I'm going to see has 33K miles on the clock. From what I read these V8s are built to last.

What isn't?

tks

You won't be disappointed with either, but if you can stretch go for a 4.7l version. The engine is a bit more lively and the other upgrades make the car feel more modern.

If you can't stretch that far, the N400's seem to hold their value we'll and you get the benefit of a years warranty, which could be a lifesaver when buying a secondhand Aston!

I'm a new owner myself and from what I can tell, they are reliable cars. Like any secondhand car you have to question why the owner is selling. If there is something wrong with it, repair bills aren't cheap.

I'll give you an example. I bought mine 2 months ago. First thing was one of the tyres kept losing pressure. I needed new valves all round. A few weeks later I see condensation in the car. The windscreen is leaking, so new windscreen fitted. If I had to pay for these myself it would have been nearly £2k and they are very easy things to hide when selling a car.

Although the dealers won't mention it, some pre-owned Astons are for sale, because the previous owner took the car for servicing and then unexpectedly walked out with yet another shiny new Aston.

Be on your guard Rob. That 'free' showroom coffee is sometimes very expensive.

thanks for the info so far guys, it's useful and reminds me of a few of the basics. I'm king of buyers remorse before I hand over my debit card for the final purchase, so won't be blindly jumping into anything.

The one I'm going to look at is with Stratstone so I'm sure a warranty will be part of the deal.

I normally prefer to buy direct from sellers on used cars but at this level I may just pay a slight premium for the piece of mind.. that's if they have the car I want to buy.

I'm still undecided If I go for the smokin deal on a 4.3L for circa 36K, go up to 10K? more for a N400 or just bite the bullet and get a 4.7L

although I've never sat in an AM yet, my heart is set on the mark at the moment. Sit in one for the first time on Wednesday.. weeeeeee

Drive the N400, 4.3 and 4.7 back to back..... I know which one you will choose.

On the 4.7, look for one with the sport pack option, that way you get the best bit of the N400, but with more power and an updated interior.

Fairview - when I was looking my search criteria were: early 4.7 (MY2009), Sports Pack and Premium Audio. I found that car and 15 months on I'm a very happy owner still. All Main Dealer used cars come with a 12 month warranty. I found it useful to iron out a few minor issues but have not renewed it for my second year of ownership. Enjoy your search …...
