Thanks for the replies guys.
It was just a question of when I buy the camera. Will go for it and see what I can get away with...and will source the ties from somewhere.
Nice to see your action shots again Bob!
Thanks Mike,,,makes me wish I'd recorded Rockingham. Really looking forward to Cadwell, a completely different circuit,,,all we need is the weather to be kind to us "again".It was just a question of when I buy the camera. Will go for it and see what I can get away with...and will source the ties from somewhere.
Nice to see your action shots again Bob!

Oh, and Craig mentioned a lap time of 1m 28s, but don't attempt to beat that.
Enjoy your day.
Jon.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Go Pro camera.
Just in case this might be of help.
When I first used a GoPro in my Aston, I was not happy with the sound. Since then I have been experimenting, and have now achieved better results.
My GoPro was sold with a waterproof case, so therefore the microphone is also inside the sealed case. I now have different case with some openings (they call it skeleton). A long microphone cable is connected to the camera, using an adaptor cable. Therefore the micphone can now be located anywhere. Placing it in the boot works well, especially when the throttle is pressed !
That's really helpful! I've been looking at the various websites and sound quality was noted as a potential issue and I did indeed wonder at what a 'skeleton' was and whether I should buy one! Thinking of getting the Hero4 Silver unless anything new is real eased to the market in the next few weeks.
Cheers for that!
Cheers for that!

At Rockingham I attached the GoPro to the rear window with the suction mount and the sound without an external mic was OK and no vibration at all:

Which microphone and adaptor cable did you buy jon? I have a GoPro and made the same mistake of leaving it in the waterproof casing. The sound was not great
The microphone I bought is an Olympus ME51SW.
You will need a GoPro skeleton case, the short GoPro microphone adapter cable, and then a long microphone cable. I am sure that I overpaid for my long cable. The hi-fi buffs just love gold this and that for their cables.
I found a gap beside the rear parcel shelf, so easy to run the cable, without harming anything.
I fitted a little woolly muffler to the microphone, but I don't think it is needed for in-the-boot use. My test recording has some clicks, so presumably something is moving about slightly within the boot.
If you are driving alone, you might want to try the camera sucker mount on the inside of your passenger door window. The GoPro cameras have quite wide angle lenses, and I found when mounted too far back, the view of the road ahead can be quite small.
Don't make my mistake of holding the steering wheel in a sloppy manner. Everything is noted by the camera !
I look forward to seeing your films, and hearing those pure exhaust sounds through my big speakers.
