Luke imo the car at Grange (Craigs car above) is a good buy, it has a few more miles but at a main dealer a good one as well, plus the owner is on here to speak to and the price is spot on.

OMG I've just noticed that the Madagascar Beast has disappeared from the Pre-owned site. About time too, someone has got a fantastic V12V there. Anyone on here?

Bought a similar age and mileage V12 V in January and have added 6k miles. I love it and always enjoy driving it whether gently or hard. Highlights are the look inside as well as out, the sound and the feel of everything you touch. It is quite practical and usable. I have not had problems.

I have the sports seats - heated, full electric and far better for my shape.

I changed from the original Corsas to Michelin Pilot Suoersports which are quieter and should be much better for winter. Even so, the suspension is not compliant enough to let you get the power down on a bumpy roads.

I would like the adaptive suspension of the V12 S, I am not fussed about the extra power, but I want a manual gearbox, which puts the S off my radar. I did drive one and was surprised that they have made the steering lighter and made it quieter at low revs.

But to repeat, I love the V12 V.

My V12 is proving more economical than the V8 as I'm generally obtaining 20mpg and not 18mpg. My only issue so far was a failed tracker unit that stranded me at a "Supercar Saturday" meeting
20mpg - not driving it hard enough smile - mine averages 12-14mpg but I'm not using it on long journeys typically and the car is so intoxicating that it wants to be driven hard

Hi All,

Well the time has come for me to look at buying an Aston Martin (wanted for years) and found a V12 Vantage Carbon Black Edition (I believe 1 of 200 made).

Has anyone got one? Is there anything I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance!

If the original Vanquish is anything to go by this might be

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

That said most of these were dealer speced and heavily discounted.

As for the Carbon Black Editions, Black Editions, Bez editions I thing its all just a load of marketing bks to help!!!! shift an end of era car.

All IMHO of course.

Yes baldy but mostly with massive discounts. Unless of course you are a lottery winner and can afford to spec a new one biglaugh

I've just sold my Murcielago and though I wanted a GT3, the prices are currently ridiculously high and waiting for a big fall. I thought in the meatime, I may buy a V12V. I've seen prices steadily fall over the past few years with nice examples now selling for around £80k. Do you think now is a good time to buy. What do people think a sub 20k mile one will be worth in another 2 years? And are there any must have options?

I get the impression prices of the GT3 may not fall for a while yet.

Yes probably is as we approach xmas. Prices aren't as high as summer. Difficult to predict prices on any car but as long as you don't put another 20k miles on the car in 2 years then you wont lose much. Regarding options, the V12V's are already specified with most options as standard from factory. There is not much you can really add on top. I have lightweight seats (an extra) but the standard seats are also ok, doesn't affect residuals but is just down to personal preference with owners.

HTH smile

Id only do 2-3k a year. Lightweight buckets for me would be a must. I think I need to go for a drive!

Whilst biased, as I have one to sell, I do believe now or at least during the winter is a good time to buy. In the summer gone there was a post about lack of supply and as they aren't making any more V12V manuals I believe the prices will rise again in the spring when the weather improves. The garage where mine is now was turning them around typically in a week shortly before he got mineweeping Turns out I decided to sell just as the clocks went back, it got colder and wetter and the market slowed right up.

As for what will they be worth in a couple of years, who knows. IMHO the V12V and probably the DBS are the two most desirable AM models and both are in short supply and always will be as most buy them as keepers, recognising their rarity and special character, so what ever the levels of depreciation on AM's will be, I think these will fare better than most.

Firstly let me say - GET IT BOUGHT!

In terms of Carbon Black - whilst at launch it was said to be a limited volume edition (just like the V12V itself - 1000 in total, 200 CB + 800 normal) AM soon dropped this restriction when they got the approval to sell the car in the US. Thus Carbon Edition became a spec model that anybody could order. SO in the end there will have been more than 200, but not hugely so and its all largely irrelevant. The CB was a little more expensive than a std V12V but was actually cheaper when you factored in the equipment included, therefore for some people it was a cheaper more sensible option to buy one. Most of the items were available on a std car at the time, but the full piano black centre / mid console wasn't available until several years later on std V12V and is a very nice touch.

I too am in the camp that lightweight seats are essential. If your posterior fits then they are considerably more comfortable despite the apparent lack of back adjustment and lack of side airbags. They are also far more in keeping with the character of V12V and enhance the connection and feedback for driving. That said there are some fat-arses wink on here who prefer the std seats, so...

There are very few V12Vs around with the std stereo anyway, but either Premium or B&O stereo systems are also a must, with there being very little sonically between these two, but B&O certainly has a bling edge with the tweeters that rise up out of the dash!

Rest of the options are largely irrelevant as the car is fully loaded as standard.

So, have you bought one yet?
