Found a chip on my windscreen so had auto glass in to try a repair. Didn't go well so I am getting the screen replaced on Friday. I am pretty nervous at the thought of them chopping the old screen out.
Any pointers to look out for as I shall be keeping a very close watch on them as they do it?
Screen is heated as well.

You say it didn't go well, what happened?

When he put the little vacuum machine on and injected the resin it opened up the cracks and made them actually more visible from inside the car.
He did say it was borderline but would try the repair to see if it would work. I'm not blaming the technician , I reckon these repair attempts either work or they don't.
I'll try and post a pic

It's not uncommon. IMHO (having used the kit and compared it to others) the equipment is flawed. Training - or lack of understanding - is a factor too.

Not a great pic but you can see the "repair" wasn't successful. (Look just below the window sill)

I just had my screen changed a few days ago, but AM supplied the fitter, as it was a warranty job due to the bond on the screen failing.

I saw them doing it and there's more to do then just changing the screen. Some of the interior needs to come off on the pillars to exposes the antenna connections.

The only thing that has bugged me about having it done, is that the new screen doesn't line up perfectly with the roof line in the top corner on the drivers side by about 3mm. But I'm putting this irritation down to my OCD, and hoping it will fade over time.

Must be the season for it. I'm putting off having this one done... its passenger side and looks horrific but I've never been happy with a new screen so better the devil you know! I must also be OCD I guess, but 3mm is not insignificant

Mine is waiting for Autoglass to get approval from Aviva to order the screen ( around £2k!)
Guy came to repair it but it is in zone A and over 5cms. (Apparently AutoWindscreens say Autoglass are better equipped to do the Vanquish)
Even so I am insisting it is done at AM dealer to provide any expertise required with a ariel, rain sensor, light sensor, dash cam hard wires etc
Would rather have had a repair.

A re-repair isn't easy, but it's also not impossible. That is something I would definitely like to have a crack at. Pun unintended.

Certainly is! This is this afternoon's addition to the list - which, as you can imagine, I'm very pleased about... frown
I'll live with it until the spring or the screen folds in two, whichever comes first.
