That lovely / nasty ( depending on my wifes view ) Simon at Works has persuaded me to place a deposit for speccing a new coupe from the factory.
Whilst I am pretty capable of getting the majority of additional spec right or wrong ( depending on other opinions ) I would genuinely like a specific view on Sports seats v Lightweight.
Other than looks and what suits the car ( lightweight wins in my view ) as a daily driver would I miss the heated seat option too much - appreciate as a Southerner I should man up but this weeks early starts in my V8 have been made much more pleasant with them - and thats also got the alcantara.
Anyone gone from one to the other and regretted it ?
Await any thoughts / abuse / other spec ideas / off topic comments as ever.

I was always happy with the lightweights in mine but then woollie was always happy with his sports seats in his.

I don't honestly think there is a right or wrong choice - its what works for you

ps congrats on the new car - Simon strikes again biggrin

Lightweights every time (for me). Have you tried both on a long drive? It's also down to personal preference.

Ps. Keep us posted on the spec for your shiny new mota smile

Had both, sports gave me a bit of a sore back after a long drive (not awful just not quite leaving the car feeling right). Lightweights are superior imo

6' 1" around 13 stone (probably fatter now)

+1 Couldn't agree more. I am 100% convert to lightweight seats, basically if your posterior fits in them then buy them and you will not regret it! I havnt missed the heated option for one minute, but its less of an issue if you have half alcantara mid sections and may be more relevant with full leather. There is an aftermarket solution for this I believe if it really bothers you.

I've had sports seats and lightweight and much prefer the lightweight seats. The do suit the car better and are very comfortable.
I really like heated seats and normally would not buy a car without them but if you have the alcantara lightweights then even in cold weather they are fine and I've not regretted the choice.

In V12VS the lightweights are very rare - I've been looking to change my V12V and this is a key criteria for me and short of me speccing up a brand new car, it's difficult to find a V12VS in the right spec so this could be good for your resale value later.

Congrats on the new purchase - fabulous car

Looks like lightweight seats then.
Tbh wasn't thinking resale as no doubt will take a bath anyway.
I want the car to stand out but in an understated way. I have my riviera blue gt3 for the over stated but that's never a daily.
So bit of Carbon in and outside , usual stereo upgrade and camera ( hate them ) , and then colours - tungsten , mako and China in the running - alcantara seat inners - maybe splash of colour and yellow v red calipers v black ? Oh and lightweight wheels , probably black.

congrats.

there have been a lot of threads on this topic

They normally go like this

(most of) our friends across the pond claim they wouldn't have lightweights even if they could, because they have no airbags, which is the reason they aren't available over there. A rare case of a country's legislation and the population's wishes apparently being in sync

Lots of owners in the UK who have cars with lightweight seats, myself included, ranging from tall to short, fat to skinny, who wouldn't consider anything else and think they are the best thing since sliced bread, with all advantages massively outweighing the loss of heated seats

A couple of drivers (well mainly mikey) who love lightweights but suggest there can be a problem using the manual box with them - not an issue in V12VS

some owners of cars with regular (sports) seats who claim the lightweight seats are no good but in most instances don't appear to have driven for a long period of time to properly check out the lightweights

a few people who genuinely don't seem to get on with the lightweights

So of course you have to check for yourself with a drive in say a V8 sportshift with lightweights but plenty of us with lightweights have driven long European roadtrips and find them very supportive.

I see people who don't prefer lightweights in the same light as those that have their steaks cooked more than medium rare or who put milk & sugar in their coffee (i.e. they are plain wrong) but of course variety is what makes the world interesting :-)

Nice
I'd recommend Mako with either light blue or the yellow accents! wink
I wouldn't put black wheels on they "vanish" in to the wheel arch when you look at them

That manual comment was in my "lost" post wink
Medium steak, coffee white with sugar - that's me conflicted then hehe

Agree that it's got to be something you keep for a while to offset the sizeable depreciation hit. With that in mind, it makes sense to really spec the car as you want it - there are some great interior combinations/colour available and it's a great way to feel good about the depreciating knowing that you specced something exactly as you wanted and probably staying away from black interior - red or yellow calipers suit the car, especially if you follow through this colour theme inside - what about Morning Frost white - really does look good (or Skyfall silver) - great choices to have.

Don't go for the tungsten. Mako is an amazing colour and one of my favorites, but I've fallen for china grey with the piano black roof and red and black interior. Oh, black wheels too. I saw one at the factory when i was last there and it looks like a proper weapon. However, i would have it detailed by someone like myself prior to picking it up, as that paint hodes nothing and the roof and boot on any v12s is a right mess from the factory.

Last weekend I test drove a V12S for about three hours in total, and ended up buying it. smile Swapped my nearly new (when supplied in 2013) V8VS for the nearly new V12VS.

The V12S has Alcantara lightweights and I found them to be vastly superior to the leather sports seats in the V8S. They really connect you to the car. I'm an average build 5ft 8" midget and they fit great. You lose the heating but they are very adjustable.

The car is nicely specced with carbon and black everything, 700W, no model badges. Pics soon.

Probably was me, have we met on a run before?

Ps. the spec sounds great, big fan of yellow calipers and a splash inside the car. I don't personally like mako but china grey is nice. Have you had a look at skyfall silver? The one down at grange looks great (and has yellow calipers, alcantara inserts with black wheels).

Check out this car in Scintilla Silver. Looks great - not seen the colour before.
