Bonds "NEW" Aston

This is what AM should be about.......
No no no. No Aston should be allowed to leave the factory in Nouveau Riche White. They should be painted proper colours, like navy blue, deep reds, BRG, etc etc. Edited by avinalarf on Friday 5th December 13:34

But yes I agree about the car.

I do not disagree that white is not to everybody's taste. But yes I agree about the car.
I'm not sure I would buy a white car although it might suit a vantage roadster with cherry red upholstery.
Pleased that we agree on the main thrust.

Nothing to do with the look of the car, but I find it hard to believe that A M directors have been stupid enough to allow their iconic DB designation to be used for a non production car. Especially as it is just to gain immediate publicity for a film that, however good or bad it is, will soon afterwards be forgotten! I am sure David Brown will be turning in his grave! Most "household name" companies vigorously protect their Trade Marks so as not to dilute their importance and exclusiveness. Whatever could AM be thinking of when they gave their go ahead for this?
Yeah, what on earth were Aston Martin thinking of, linking themselves with a film franchise like James Bond? It will be the kiss of death for their salesAnd I agree the film will soon be forgotten about, just like that one from 50 years ago, what was it called "Goldflinger" or something like that with its completely forgettable car for Bond to drive around in....
Did you mispell your name when you chose it? Was that 's' in the middle meant to be an 'l'?

Downr, I fear you have totally missed my point. I didn't in any way mean to say or imply that AM shouldn't associate themselves with the James Bond franchise, far from it. But in my opinion they should have either used a current model, which they had always done previously, or thought up a more original name for their one off. Like you I have a DB9 and it gives me great pleasure to think of the wonderful heritage of all the various DB cars that have proceeded it. I just feel that to associate a car that has been produced solely for the film, rather cheapens the DB prefix. But hey ho everyone to their own opinion. By the way FYI the spelling of my user name is 100% correct.

Not keen on the front now I have seen it from different angles, they dropped the ball there, it does look weak and unassuming for a high performance car.
10 car total = 2 well finished "Hero" cars for close up glamour shots and display and 8 lashed up facsimile examples ( made by EON's workshop)purely for stunt driving and destruction.

When the DBS was used in the Bond film, was it before that model was first delivered to customers?

I think I recall hearing some time ago, that the DB10 name was unlikely to be used for the DB9 successor. Concerns about ridicule over the word beaten.
Similarly with DB8, there were worries particularly with the US market, that it might be associated with 'only' having a V8 engine.
This might all be complete nonsense, but anyway I understand your own concerns.
It might make it even worse for you, that the DB10 name has ended up on a 'mere' Vantage sports car.
I said previously that the bonnet with upper wings must hinge forwards. Of course it might hinge backwards towards the windscreen. A very large chunk of metal or c/f anyway. What other cars have had bonnets combined with wings? I can think of E-Type and Triumph Herald, Vitesse, Spitfire, GT6.
The traditional design proportions and AM-unique features are all there - I think the DB10 is stunning and we'll all grow to admire it in time.
A few years ago I had a 2003 Vanquish and couldn't see a Vantage without thinking they looked too stubby. Now I have a V8VR and think the Vanq is too long. Doesn't take long to assimilate and eventually admire the marque with all its differences, though I still have trouble getting my head round the headlight intakes on the One-77.

Totally agree and this car just isn't quite an Aston to me. I find it a disappointing design that lacks distinction as an Aston. To my eye, the new DB9 is the most beautifully designed car there is. Many of the older version are stunning but the 9 is based on so many classical elements of design applied to modern automotive vision puts it on a level of timelessness that will in time be judged as unsurpassed. Just one old man's opinion.

perhaps the lights are a bit small .....but its fantastic.....no chance of Aston Martin inviting me to have a look at it in the "flesh" as they know I'm skint after moving house.
EFA...........In no way was I suggesting you were insolvent as I know that you often take advantage of your dear wife's inheritance.

1. The Aston is silver the Jag is white.
2. The rear lights of the Jag are on displaying a red hue ,whilst the rear lights of the Aston are not on .
3. If one squints with the left eye perpendicular to the ceiling one can observe that the side window of the Jag has a hip at the rear unlike the Aston which has a smoother design.
4. The alloy wheels are of a different pattern.
5. The Jag has a number plate whereas the Aston is devoid of a number plate.
6. The rear of the Aston gives the appearance of an elephant having a dump whereas the Jag has a much neater appearance.
I will agree that both cars have four wheels and the wheels are round.
No Jon I just don't see the similarity.
