Sounds like a V8 not a V12 to me!

Here is my guess:

The DB10 will be the new Vantage fitted with the new 460BHP V8 from AMG (as fitted to the AMG GT)
There will also be a DB10 Vantage (being the top model to replace the V12V) fitted with the 510bhp V8 from AMG (as fitted to the AMG GT-S)
The DB11 will be a DB9 replacement with a V12

If you read the link from the previous post (very interesting by the way - thanks speech)

You might be interested to read this interview with Marek Reichman about the design of the DB10.
you will see some official confirmation of what some of us have said earlier, namely that this really does appear to be a one (or 10) off, which will not be in any way a production car. There will be no production DB10 car and this is, in terms of impact on new production models, to all intents & purposes a concept car / design study

Replacement vantage & DB9 will no doubt show elements of DB10, CC100, ONE 77, DP100 plus of course natural evolution from the existing cars.

My guess would be that the new DB11 will have a V8 and that the V12 will be kept for the range topping car, but there is a thread on the AMOC site where someone is stating that they have been told there will be no more V12's once the AMG engines are introduced. Hope that is wrong but at this stage pure speculation. Good fun to guess at what the future will bring though biggrin

Everybody seems to forget that AM re-signed with the Ford factory last year to produce the V12 until 2017.

2017 is probably when the DB9 replacement will be ready.

Smoke & mirrors!!

To target a bigger customer group, there will be a V12 overhanging rear engined, front wheel drive car, with battery & fuel tank directly behind the front bumper, to help improve dynamics. Initial market research forecasts sales of around 45,000 units in the first year, 90% of which to China, and the remaining 24% to Guernsey.

Opps, yes missed that link - thanks, agreed a very interesting read! thumbup

Do we really believe that AM will let the name DB10 go to just 10 cars used in a film and never hit the streets? Seems to be an awful waste of the next logical succession number that has been with the Marque for a long time.

Going back to the old naming convention showing std models/performance versions with names of say DB10, DB10 Vantage, DB11, DB11 Virage would seem to me to be far more intuitive for 90% of the general public.

+1. Or at least that's what they've told bondholders in the City

So to have the current engines supplied until 2017 (for delays on the new model, run-out DB9s etc) might be considered a sensible decision? wink

intuitive ? You mean using some common sense in the naming ? Next you'll be telling us they have a well thought out strategy that will be executed as planned rather than made up & changed as they go along...................or that pigs can fly

just looking at the different ways they have used 'vantage' over the years, the introduction of virage (mark 2) or the resurrection of names like vanquish, tells you all you need to know about what the board think of having an intuitive naming line up

I guess random 'V' naming in conjunction with the odd number is more quirky, and very British. Much better than A1, A2, A3, A4, A37 or 3 series, 4 series, 19 series etc.

How about Aston Martin Viagra? No wait a minute, someone else has that one.......

Interesting

marek with TG said:
So what is the DB10? "The underpinnings are V8 Vantage," admits Reichman. "But it has a longer wheelbase than the V8, and an incredibly wide track, almost the width of the One-77. The engine is exactly as you might expect, a 4.7-litre V8... but maybe there's something there you won't expect."
So this is probably the DB10 being tested then?

marek with TG said:
He's particularly proud of the DB10's front end, a front end apparently inspired, in deliciously Bond-villain fashion, by frickin' SHARKS. "The grille doesn't sit on the upper surface in any way," Marek explains. "It's all on a negative surface, like a shark's face. This car has the lowest nose that we've ever produced."
It's dark in a very literal sense, says Marek. "The grille is all in shadow. There's a darker feeling to the car. On the inside, it's very technical. It has a... not a sinister feeling, but a very machine-like feeling to it."
Nice "design talk" but it still looks weird!

You may recall a previous topic about this Nurburgring car, where a video enabled us to hear the sound.
The consensus was that it has a V12 engine.

Therefore it would not be the DB10, but more likely to be the Vantage GT3.
I hope those 'add-on' wheel arch extensions, are not the final design.

Sharks?

GM has had the design dibs on that theme with the Stingray since the 60's,I don't think its a good idea for AM to be attempting to persue that design route, especially with this half soaked attempt .

I think you're totally into something here. smile

Although to be really modern, it should be a solar or wind powered V12 though.
