Hi

On a 2008 DB9 Volante:
1. Should I have to close the boot or should it fall closed and slam (quite hard).
2. Also when I press the remote boot open button should it open or just unlock?

If either is a yes, I guess I need new gas struts.

To close let it drop to slam shut....key fob only unlocks does not open.....

I found that slamming it shut by dropping it closed kept breaking the bond on the high level brakelight. I just let it rest closed and lean on it to click it shut.

Far more gentle and must be better for those lamps.

Has anyone upgraded the gas struts so they open on the button press and stop the slam shut?

Unlikely, but I could be proven wrong.

To do this, they must also be damped so the bootlid does not fly open to the limit and strain the hinges. Could also smack you in the face if you are standing too close to it when you operate it.

This would then also have the negative effect that you will need to push down against the spring pressure to close it again.

The best solution would be a stepper motor to open and close it like the BMW 7-Series. Is it that much of a problem???
