Ok serious question for you DBS owners. Used there's a 10k jump from the early ones to very slightly newer ones with the B&O hifi and then it levels out a bit. Seems a hefty difference? Man maths is saying an early DBS isn't much different in price to my V8S. And insurance is cheaper!

And do you all treat the ceramics with kid gloves when you wash the car or would a bit of snow foam hurt?

Wash the wheels using standard bucket/mitt method after washing the car first using regular carwash soap, then hose off (not a high pressure sprayer or similar). Very little wheel cleaning needed in the first place since brake dust is virtually non existent.

What he says :-)
I still use snowfoam just not on the wheels.... I use a wash mitt with just water.. And as mentioned no dust issues just grime.
As for v8s to dbs thinking For me I was looking for any year.. Colour or spec I test drove back to back an early manual and a newer TT2 and fell for the later!
As for Man maths... I loved my prodrive V8v but the DBS is something else... So much more or everything... You're more than welcome to have a go in mine matey :-)

I think I am best qualified to answer this. Mine is a manual 2009 with B&O which seems to make a difference on values. 19000 miles. There is a similar car on the market at the mo with 21000 miles for circa £86k. I paid £95k three years ago.

CCMs. My fronts are fked due solely to track abuse and hard road driving. It's all good and well others saying you don't get brake dust but fact is if you drive the car hard you do. I use MucOff on the wheels and I suspect the CCMs have been splashed. The guys who have analysed my discs have confirmed zero damage caused by the MucOff because it would obviously damage hubs etc. Hope this clears up a few myths biggrin

ETA Just noticed the car I'm comparing to is the ladies version without a decent knob

Ooooooooo listen to Mr big bks with one of them stick things to change gear :-)
Well yeah on Spa track day my wheels got covered in all sorts of ste but on normal roads just a rinse with water sorts mine... I did use some of the AG wheel sealant stuff on them (wheels off) so maybe that helps..

I love my TT2... And didn't buy it to watch the price.. I bought it to enjoy.. And worth every penny

Isn't there a guy on here with an earlier DBS in Silver Fox who posted a lot of pics. I'm sure outside it would look much better. Go have a look wink

You might be thinking of a pilot gentleman, who bought a Silver Birch DBS from Cheltenham.

Hi

Thanks again for your comments, it's nice to see people responding also it's not a surprise that even this forum just like many other's get side tracked from the original posted topic rolleyes

Another question is I have seen a car which is catching my attention but it's not in a main dealership, do you know if the local Aston main dealer will do the 140 point inspection (For a charge.) plus could I also then still take out the Aston Martin extended warrantee etc?

Yes they do. If you get it services, 9/10 the check is included at no extra cost. I don't know about if you take out a warranty but its worth asking.
If it's not a main dealer car then factor in a significant discount for 'niggles'. There was a significant (£k's) amount of stuff the dealer had to do to make our perfect. I'm talking about paint, trim etc. Not mechanical.

One item to note about the 140 point check.

It's a waste of money.

If the car is NOT for sale in an Aston Martin dealership then I suggest you arrange for an inspection by a decent independent dealer (Bamford Rose are the firm I would suggest, there are others out there). If they say the car is ok then pay for a 140 point inspection and get the AML warranty if wanted.

As you have no experience with AM I would stick with a main dealer more so with the amount you are about to spend.
Just safer that's all with warranty, service etc.

Private sale or non AM dealer no Aston Warranty until you have owned car for three months.
If the owner renews the warranty then it can be transfered straight over to you during sale.
