Hi just wondered if anyone was out here in Dubai from the forum and would like to meet up at the HanKook 24H Dabai Race today? I am out here with work and just realise by chance this was on, so just got a ticket online and heading down there:

Spontaneous activities like this are what I love about life biggrin

Aston Martin in 5th place now.

With 17 hours remaining, the KPM Racing, Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is now in 2nd place overall.

The leader is one of those rumble sounding cars from Germany. - smile

There are two GT4 Aston Martins in this race, so we have an opportunity to measure the performance differences.

You probably know that a GT3 racer is an enormously modified V12V, whereas the GT4 is closer to a production 4·7.

When the GT3 was lapping at 2mins 6secs,
the GT4 was doing 2mins 18secs.

Hi Jon
My only issue is I had not planned for this event so don't have my portable radio to listen to the radio commentary! This is a bit of an event killer, no radio for me!
What I can tell you is there were I believe 95 cars that started.
There are no more than 10 classes of vehicles, this means unbeleivable variances in cornering and power - quite strange really. Le Mans is so simple with just 4 classes. Lamborghini vs a Mini...

For spectators though, is very exciting, as there are so few spectators and you can see many sequences of bends/straights in one view. Plus we all love a few bumps and off's to watch- as long as no one is hurt. Lots of drama to watch smile

One thing that confuses me is that they tow you back into the pits if your have a technical issue/breakdown, they don't make you complete the whole lap but take you through a short-cut to the pits. Surely this can't count as a completed lap?

Hello William,

I have all the info (3 monitors on my office desk)
(1) On-line TV coverage and commentary,
(2) Timing screen,
(3) Circuit Tracker,

but none of the atmosphere that you are enjoying.

Have you been able to chat to the three teams running Astons?
Now it is dark, I expect the most interesting view for you, is probably from the pits.

Yes, I noticed the part laps that you have mentioned. A BMW has just been towed a very short lap, from where it stopped at the end of the pit lane. Probably far safer to do that, and no one gains much.

Another Code 60 (speed limit) has just begun.

The leading SLS has pitted for tyres, front brake pads, front brake discs and fuel (just under 7 minutes, our dealers take longer than that to prepare the invoice smile ).

That has enabled the Aston Martin GT3 to take the lead of the race.

At the finish of 24 hours racing, the Aston Martin GT3 finished 4th overall,
and 3rd in class.

The two GT4 Aston Martins finished 3rd and 6th in their class.

Well done to the teams.

- And prospective purchasers ask on this forum, about reliability.
