i guess the trade benefit is open to all, some applications might be rejected though based on meeting entry level criteria.

Funny how everyone these days seem to think they are entitled to some sort of benefit regardless.

I remember when the only way to get 'trade' was taadaa - be in the trade !!!!! No official order - no discount take it or leave it

I remember getting 'Military Discount'. At one point Ford were offering 20% on new cars to serving personnel. They still do it in the States and it is well received.

Almost feels like you've been cheated out of this benefit?

I got a quote of £11,983.90, must have been a typo. No benefit in taking that, I'd feel like I'd been cheated.

looks like the system saved you from a big spend there Lewis, those clerical errors sure can be niggling and troublesome. But there you go, even if you do fill out the claim form wrongly, have faith in the system and it will correct its own error by setting the record straight in the end

I sincerely hope you can back this claim up David. Many moons ago we had a PHer who claimed an illustrious Army career that turned out not to be quite as stated. It would be dreadful to think there were still PHers that were not totally up front about their past!!!!

I can assure you that I served in the RN for 35 years and 65 days. The local ford dealer (Doves Ford) offered me 20% discount on a new Mondeo on production of my ID card stating that it was a directive from Ford and mirrored the discount in the USA.

I also didn't purchase any of my medals from eBay...

Thanks chaps, this thread has been really informative re the benefits that can be claimed to help save a few quid. Well, the weekend is upon us and im off abroad for a trip, if i like the place i might even stay there, 2 years conditionally seems a good bet after a hard weeks work
