My V8 Vantage was one of the 4.7 factory cars used for development work and some press stuff. It also has the KX registration. Didnt bother me one bit that it was, i bought it off AM works and they told me up front about it when i first put the deposit down. AM had it for a few years then sold it to private owner who part ex'd it at Works.
Other manufacturers take more care with those cars early on because the press use them and initial thoughts build on the models future reputation, so i don't doubt Aston are any different.

Another original KX here. I believe they often pre-reg them to ensure a discount over list... I'll be honest and say I did have a sniff to see if it had ever been a press car etc before purchase but never saw one in my colours. However (and I speak as someone who has had press cars for a week 50+ times, and often tracked them for the cameras) I really think the worst that will happen is the car gets its tyres scrubbed a bit when they blag an hour for some shots on track. Most auto-journalists are not abusive savages - yes we will hang its arse out for the camera but that really is no big shakes for such a vehicle. Also a few revs on the engine never hurt anyone except Miss Daisy and if it needs a wheelbearing a few thousand miles sooner or has had disks a few thou earlier then its nothing. So in conclusion a few consumable components may wear out a few thousand miles earlier. That's it :-) Enjoy!
Hi David
Very nice indeed. I must admit I've always preferred black which I think makes the V12V look rather menacing but having said that Lightning Silver looks great. A nice contrast to the carbon fibre parts on the car too. They are such special cars. You will never stop driving it with a silly grin on your face. Enjoy!
Best Regards

Congratulations and enjoy. My local dealer has aV12VSR in at the moment in Lightening Silver and didn't realise what a fantastic colour it was until I took a close look. Fantastic depth to it. You have a very special Aston to enjoy.
As for it being a press car that was such a long time ago I wouldn't even think about it. The press won't have wrecked it, the tyres will have been changed and anything untoward will have been sorted along time ago.
As for general concerns re KX reg Astons do your research. One of my friends bought one last year. Initially concerned that it was a press car but turned out to be an Astons Directors car so low mileage and well looked after. He now has a cracking car.

.....and I'm still loving my "KX" car - the added bonus is that "ex Aston" cars tend to have been fully specced, mine has just about everything on it Ken Figenus said:
I touched that car a couple of days ago as I couldn't help commenting on how gorgeous the paint was (they said it was a £3k option). Tidy!
Maybe a Cardiff meet is in order - went to a club meet once but other members came in Land Rovers so didn't think it was for me!
