Chaps, some help please.

I have decided that the DBS needs replacement Cats. The exhaust note just isn't aggressive enough. I understand that the restrictive 400 cell OEM units that AM fit initially is the problem.

Any fellow AM PH'ers got any advice/recommendations on which to fit, especially DBS owners? A quick search of Google brings up a few options.

Ta in advance.

Instead of new cats....take two centre cats out and replace with straight through pipe.....had mine done after hearing Nicks , and lottos......you will need a switch , although I have yet to use mine.....

What he said..... :-)

Sounds awesome and the switch is handy for 5am startups if you like your neighbours!

Defo go for a decat. I took mine to Bamford Rose to have 200cell cats fitted and Mike kindly suggested SAVING a wad of cash and try out his latest idea of decat pipes with the offer of a refund if I wasn't totally happy.

The rest is history - following our trip to Le Mans AMDBSNick, sukh m and getoff all had theirs done. Nick also had The Moose's DB9V done too. Even yeti had to admit that despite having a Benderbox my DBS was best sounding car on the tour closely followed by the DB9 of Nein fondue who had his done shortly after mine.

I think tony hall had his done by DAE recently so there is a choice of suppliers should you so wish.

Trust me you won't regret having it done biggrin

Just thought.......mine was up at Works recently and I knew it was my car that was started up in the workshop even though I was in the showroom with Simon. Suffice to say it was a VERY distinct note that reverberated around the building - luvverlyjubberly

Thanks guys going to give David Appelby a ring on Monday. I don't want it to sound as aggresive as this though!

I had mine replaced with straight through pipes on my DB9. I has them fabricated by Commercial Plant and Exhausts up in Bradford. They are a bespoke exhaust manufacturer who do a lot for specialist military vehicles and are our preferred supplier @ work. They have drawings for these and are very simple to make. Cost a lot less than £500, but are up north! Sound is better but not intrusive when in cruise.Would recommend DAE, thinks they use RS fabrications ones.

I'm well, cheers, and getting used to the DBS, a different drive to the V8V!!

She's going in to Works tomorrow to get some paintwork chips sorted. Our friend Mr Stanton has a recommendation for me (someone who has a V12V has had it done, don't know who) so will talk to him tomorrow. As its in all week hopefully going to get it done at the same time.

If it's a fellow PHeader that's had their V12V cats done at AM Works can you PM me or reply in this thread to let me know what you think of it? Ta

I've got the Aston Warranty and I've asked the dealer for exhaust 'upgrades' and they have said that it would invalidate the warranty. Any views to the contrary on this from you guys?

Having paid for the warranty and I do like the security blanket of it, I am wary of doing anything to invalidate it.

Although I do hanker after a different (rasping) sound...

Don't think much to that exhaust note at all. Mind you based on that engine warm up time it won't sound like that for long.

Thanks for all the input chaps.

Result is that I'm taking the DBS over to Bamford Rose next week in for a decat and 3way switch fit. Hope it's going to sound as good as I hope.

Allows you to have always open, always closed (ie 'stealth' mode) or controlled by ECU (ie OEM).
