The 4.3 is not a slow car and is equally as good looking as any other. Considering my own driving talent, I dare say that on the twisty roads I was able to rinse more fun out of the 380bhp than I have been able to on the 470-510 of my others without stripping the PSS/Corsa's. That's not to say the modified 4.7 V8V or DBS can't make it from point A to point B quicker, it just takes more talent.

I've also found that the rate of delivery is very deceiving. I remember being in the passenger seat of the DB9 and thinking "F..k me, thats quick. Much quicker than the 8. Swapping cars and my business partner sat in the left seat of the V8 when I was driving and he commented the same "f..ck me your 8 is much quicker than the 9". We quickly realised that you just don't realise how rapid they can be from the right seat.

Reliability wise, writing this while touching the wood desk... No serious issues. Everything has been handled by warranty, and even if it hadn't been, none of the issues would have upset me a lot if I'd had to pay for them myself.
List of problems other than the odd paint item across a 4.3 V8, 4.7 V8SS, DB9 and DBS are:
1x Wheel bearing, 1x thermostat, 1x lower control arm bush, one headlight, one sat nav module (not working on delivery), 1x seat heating element.
I think that's it. I had more problems in quantity and value on my Passat!

If I had to sum up ownership of the 4.3 it would be this: If I went back from a stock 4.7 to the 4.3 the only thing I'd miss terribly would be the interior. Everything else I could sort with aftermarket parts.
Now I've modded the 4.7, the only thing that would prise it from my cold dead hands would be a Vanq.

I think that's true of any car. When I've occasionally been the passenger in one of my own cars it's always felt quicker than when I'm driving. I think it's because you are not in control of the car. Also, as the driver, you know when you have put your foot down so are are ready for the change of speed, but the passenger does not know when you booted it and therefore is not expecting it.

Some cracking advice here.

Well have you driven one yet biggrin? Then you will know.

Have you checked out any Bamford Rose type upgrades for a 4.3? Others may know better, but if you are 'saving' £20k potentially viz a 4.7 purchase maybe the value you add will actually be somewhat reflected when/if you sell it?

Best of luck though as I was here 6 months ago and suspect I'd have been happy with a GTR or M5 for half the outlay. But I did the right thing in the end and regret nothing cool

I have owned a 2007 4.3 for almost 2 years I and I loved it. It still looks stunning and in Italy especially it felt much more special and rare compared to the 997 911 I owned before. And it is also a great car to drive with a very capable chassis. It doesn't feel immediately fast in straight line but I briefly drove the 4.7 too and it is not a 911 Turbo. I mean, If you are looking for breathtaking straight line performance the 4.7 too won't do.

Some great replies there. I don't have much to add other than yes the V8V isn't super quick but hey, who says it has to be your 'fast car'?
The B5 RS4 I had before (2.7 V6 Bi-turbo and around 440bhp but easily tuneable to 500+) was ferociously quick and I will be buying another one before their values rise too much. I'll use it for the turbo-shove, carrying passengers and the quattro grip and watch it appreciate... enjoying the unbeatable looks, sound and interior of the Aston V8 most of the time.

Oooh - I had a B5 too with AMD tuning at 430bhp. Awful thing dynamically - superb lovely engine, Miltek exhaust (swoon). Couldn't wait to get rid of it! Now appreciating? I also had the Porsche engined RS2 for a week test - loved it so much more. Was the B5 just over tyred maybe - awful crashy, tuggy, camber following thing (and that was on new tyres).
