Hello, curious to know how difficult it would be to convert an early vantage to the current dashboard. Has anyone tried this?

Whilst the fitment may be possible i think you would get instances of the heater fan speed, hazard light flashing and clock would run a lot slower. The only way to get around this is to swap the engine out as well with the 4.7 one.

Brilliant! claphehe Hang on,.. I drive a 4.3... you ba$%ard!!! nono

While I like the new dash, I also think there's an elegance to the 'older' version and am surprised that this would be something to consider - unless you have done everything else? Funnily enough I am having one of the switch packs changed (Nav buttons) and they are ££hundreds each. Hope the piggy bank is very full!

the parts and hassle factor of getting it all working, then poor resale for a car thats been mucked about with.

take the easy option and spend a few grand more on the newer car in the first place

Would probably cost less in the end!

The 4.7 dashboard was originally a DBS fitment.
By model year 2009, it had 'trickled down' to be a standardised fit on the other models.

So, if you want to have the really latest kit, why not fit the current Vanquish centre console. That is probably quite a challenge, but you would have a unique interior (perhaps not when the Vantage GT3 arrives).

And the cost of what Astonbits or any other supplier would charge for a Vanquish console, you may as well buy a new Vantage!

ISTR that the biggest hassle is getting the security transponder in the new key/ECU working with the 4.3 ECU/engine.

I also seem to remember seeing a thread on either 6speed or AMOC where someone has tried this in the past. I tried searching for the thread recently but couldn't find it. frown

I just had a look and the cheapest cars with later dash are about £45K compared with the earliest highest mile cars for £30K ish

I dont think theres much wrong with the early dash. You can still fit metal knobs, glass etc if you want to bling it up a bit

you are correct.

if after conversion to later level console, all centre console features work 100%, and key start and steering lock functions then mastery of system integration beyond factory diagnostic tool capability must have been employed.

Thanks for the feedback, was not sure if it was plug and play, e.g. wiring harness were the same etc.
