Anyone know this car?
Discussion
I've done that and he was very helpful. Filled me in on many details about the car and it's past. Just trying to gauge general opinion/value on the car as I'm really struggling with it. Can't decide if I'm better buying a standard car or not. The feedback I'm getting about this car is very mixed, which concerns me from a prospective purchase point.
If you like the car and it ticks all your boxes then go for it. It sounds like its had a bit of a rough life and then a good chunk of money spent on it to restore it to a good example (from these posts here). Given the mileage it will be harder to shift on if/when you come to sell but if that is not a worry and its mechanically sound you should be ok.
I thought the car had been sold? Why is it now back on the market? The other buyer got cold feet after finding out the real mileage on the car. It's not the modifications that worry me because they have been done by a reputable firm BUT how easy is it going to be to move a car on with 125k miles plus on it regardless of how many are on the latest engine. Really doubt that you will get a lot of interest unless you pay an awful lot less than the asking price. All IMO of course.
I've been told it has a deposit on it but the chap has not yet come to view the car, only that he will pay full asking price on collection. It's supposed to be collected this week. So sold but not signed, sealed, delivered! Appleby's told be they put a brand new engine in it and virtually the entire car was 'recommisioned' when they carried out all the work on it. But the mileage and previous 'history' still concerns me at that price.
Pure chance I got talking to someone today about this car who filled me in on a little history. Apparently it's done over 155k miles and has been in at least 2 wallops in its life, front and rear. One which was the reason for its rebuild to its current state. And the second in the current owners very short ownership recently.

"recommissioned" Sure as hell the suspension bushes, the gearbox & diff oil seals, as well as all the fluid hoses (coolant, oil & hydraulics) weren't change.
It needs to go to a Porsche specialist on the East coast
