What can you knowledgeable folks tell me about the SP10 ?

Is it just a special run Vantage S, or are there additional things to the ceramic grey paint and alcantara / leather seats ?

So after my trip to Works at the weekend I've decided that the best option for me is a V8S (for now). Next challenge is it must be an SP10 but I want a sportshift. I know there's a few out there and I also know that Stratstones have a one for sale at the moment, but at 16,300 miles in a year it's a bit too high for me (as I'll be adding plenty more).

If anyone knows of any SP10 SS's lurking in AM dealers or are aware of any impending part ex's can they please PM me.

I can wait a while if need be.

Thanks all

V8V S Sportshift is a great choice (I am biased)

Is there any reason specifically an SP10? Just the Alcantara?

If you do find one make sure it has the suspension you want. You had to opt in to Sports suspension on the SP10 Coupe (whereas you opt out of it on the V8V S if that makes sense)

I just like the whole package if i'm honest (paint, interior, wheels etc). I know I could recreate the same car from new (already done that from the options list) however at £111k (before discount) i'm not that keen.

As for the suspension, I think i'll need to take what comes really as i'm after a reasonably rare beast anyway, but out of choice i'd take the standard (non sport) suspension. I know others will shoot me down in flames for that, but as a car I intend to drive everyday our pot-holed roads just aren't geared up for full-time sports suspension.

As you probably know BigRy the roadster SP10 comes with sports suspension as standard. It's an option on the Coupe.

It's noticably harder than standard but not a tooth loosener! The standard suspension ( which I had on my previous roadster) is well judged and very capable - it's perfectly suitable for road use. If you plan to track the car a lot or want the ultimate on smoother roads then go for the sports setup. On poorer surfaces I think the standard does a better job. Just make sure you drive both over a variety of roads.

Hope this helps.

Bit more suspension input.

My V8S had sports. My V12S has the three stage adaptive - I drive this 90% of the time on the road in normal mode, not sports. (Ok, different car so not a direct comnparison).

But, if I went back to a V8S I'd go normal suspension. Unless I was going to track it all the time.

Not sure how many SP10 Coupes are on the road? I've seen a few roadsters. Good luck!

I'm after a coupe, I love the roadster but had one previously and I just need a little more practicality in a DD (Aston.......practical...hehe).

If I wanted a manual I would have more choice I know, but as i'm after a SS I will be limited by what comes to market...unless any dealers have one out the back they forgot about rofl

That is the Roadster J12MOC but read on for more confusion on that though you own one so should know. As you say the SP10 Coupe is the opposite which is different from the V8V S it is based on!

The V8V S Coupe has Sport Suspension as standard with the Comforst Suspension a no cost option (and Comfort Suspension is not available on the V8V S Roadster at all). (My input the Sport Suspension is firm but you get used to it, I think I would be happy with either suspension).

On the SP10 Coupe for reasons to confuse us all, the SP10 Coupe is fitted with 'Touring Suspension' with Sports Suspension an option.

(To further confuse the issue with SP10 Roadsters the dealer bulletins I have state that SP10 Roadsters will also have this Touring Suspension with no option to change to anything else).

To complete the set the 'standard' Vantage Coupe has Comfort Suspension as standard with Sport Suspension a £995 option. The 'standard' Roadster has Sport suspension with no option to change.

So as standard:

Vantage Coupe - Comfort
Vantage Roadster - Sport

SP10 Coupe - Touring
SP10 Roadster - Touring?

Vantage S Coupe (and N430) - Sport
Vantage S Roadster (and N430) - Sport

in all cases Coupes can be changed to the other type of suspension available no cost or cost depending on model. Roadsters cannot be changed. The AM documentaton on SP10 Roadsters is definitive but that does not mean that is what they fitted smile I would also expect more SP10 Coupes than not to have the softer suspeneion as this was standard.
