Paddy, I only went into Halfords to buy a magnetic GB plate - honest!

It's because I live abroard and come to the UK roughly once a month to drive the car as much as possible all over the place, basically looking for somewhere to live. So I end up staying in hotels, and it's not always that easy to find somewhere to wash it properly. Being black it's normally dirty again after about 200 metres, so it's just something to tidy it up a bit. I wouldn't use the spray on it in this state:

Not been able to see Nick yet, will do when I'm over early April.
I live staffordshire/shropshire border not a million miles from the M54/A5 which is not far from one of the areas I think you were looking at. I have an outside tap you can use if you're ever desperate and I could even make you a cup of tea and lend you a bucket, jet wash, microfibre towels and a squirt of fairy

I find the better the car is originally detailed and finished the easier it is to wash. The wife's car has gtechniq EXO2 on it and its a doddle to get looking half reasonable.
Thanks for the offer Jon. Will try and meet up next time I'm in your area. So far done Shropshire - Chuch Stretton has potential. Also Wiltshire, Cheshire, and Warwickshire/Herefordshire near Malvern. Going back there in April for another look.

Paddy put on the Crystal Serum and it really is amazing.

Just a thought, what happens if you get snow foam on your Wookies Fist?

Its painless, a Wookies Fist can accommodate any type of lubrication.

Not sure about Crystal Serum though, was Paddy gentle with you and does that not cause a rash?

You are correct to point out that fairy might do dishes but it's not a good idea on your car.

All this talk about Fisting has brought a tear to my eye.
The worst thing I've had lately was arriving back at the car to see two children writing "Clean me" in the grime.
Thanks lads.

This all sounds quite a parlaver.
I think I will continue with my, 'it rarely needs a wash technique'.

1. Not black.
2. Try to drive on dry days.

You know, you are correct. I never thought of that.
I will leave the car filthy from now on so that others may benefit.
To every cloud there is a silver lining. I feel so much better now.
Oh no!! I've mentioned benefits now!!??

Wasn't it normally Wilson? And as for using a Wookies' Fist, 'Do you really think that's wise?'

Timeless British comedy.....

I just took a half day and spent 4 hours cleaning mine - never again!

I'd had her detailed 7 months ago and washed her 'properly' by hand ever since and kept, rather anally, telling the dealer not to wash her etc. Very swirl and hologram free so this is a top tip! Only wash her yourself with the right kit - this is a good starter pack http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/gtechniq-perfect-pro... (used a code to get some discount too). The drying cloth is like spooky magic! The polish wasnt really needed but took out a few scratches and brightened the chrome bits - just look for how to videos on you tube using the product name

Yes its a palaver and a new trick for old hands but it just works and you just have to to keep her looking shiny rather than let her degrade.

Get a top detailer in like Paddy to start you off and pick their brains as its all new fangled these days and there are an utterly totally baffling range of products, combinations and options! Or if they are handy and its not a palaver get the pros in to keep her looking great.

Finally everyone raves about Crystal Serum - its like top notch wax and then some and only pro's can apply it as if it goes wrong you have to get the sander out!!! Worth considering.

Be careful with the Ceramic Brakes - I had one of my front disks go bad - Aston claimed it must have been from chemicals used when cleaning the car and I ended up having both front disks replaced. Whether it was water/cleaning products who knows but I wouldn't let anyone clean it on this basis - better to have a professional detailer do it. I imagine the local hand wash & scratch places (that I use for my non-aston cars) use cheap and abrasive cleaners and that could result in a bill of a few thousand pounds for new disks.

Reading these forums it seem CCM brakes are a bit of an unknown with things like this.
