Whilst on my travels I was introduced to and met I guy called James.
Known in certain circles as 'Q' he develops vehicle communication installations which includes Aston Martins.
(Long story short - he has developed solutions for AM and was given a DB9 by the factory to play with, subsequently getting AMs seal of approval).

Anyway, while in conversation he mentioned his Remote Fuse 22 kit.
Well I have just had one fitted.
What an amazing bit of kit - very professional looking and an easy and tidy fit.

In essence it's a black box that plugs into the fuse 22 slot and activates/deactivates the exhaust flaps at the push of a button on a remote control (similar in size to the key fob open/close remote)
Thus you can open/close the exhaust flaps whenever you like using the remote.
The cool thing, imo, is that when you switch to off, or when you switch off the ignition, it reverts back to factory setting.
This means that when you switch the ignition on again its the factory setting.
Of course, when required, you can open/close the flaps with the remote at anytime.

More information and contact details can be found here:
http://www.trackaphone.com/specialist-vehicle-installations
Don't be put off by the fact the company is in Newcastle, James travels all over the Country and Europe and frequently visits AM dealerships.

P.S. I'm also going to be having a chat to him about iPod connections and Mobile phone hands-free systems.

TBH what he has developed is a lot neater, tidier and more professional looking than that kit.
I would suspect that his has been developed before this came out.
The other thing is that, imo, most eBay stuff has been ripped off copied from someone elses design.

As far as the AMOC post...
It is more likely that it has been developed as a result of that post/discussions.
As previously mentioned, his device has been approved by the AM factory
...and does not cost £300!

Is now a good time to mention that there is an even more elegant solution?

A hard-wired 3-way switch, rather than the rather antiquated 2-way option. And no, it's not rocket science.

The story about getting approval from Aston Martin sounds very phoney.

I highly doubt Aston Martin would approve a device that taps into the fuse.

OP reads like a poorly disguised advertising pitch. Do it yourself for £20, using an r.c. switch as previously advised on this forum

Doubt its an advert as its not James' style. He's a top guy and fitted the DAB in my car.

That said for a donation to Help for Heroes a certain indie will fit you a three way switch for nowt thumbup

I have the remote switch kit too, as do quite a few others on here. It works well and is simple to fit ...nothing more to say really

yes there are other more integrated solutions that have been offered too, by Prodrive, Bamford Rose, and others

and yes you can buy the components yourself from maplins if you wish for a lot less, if you are that way inclined

Curious to know how the OP's kit is "a lot neater, tidier and more professional looking" than the other remote kit linked to above, when it sounds totally identical.

if its like mine, it is a neat small metal black box with a wire and seperate remote. I keep the remote in my ash tray cubby hole

nothing more to it. the one in the link from maplins bits looks a bit more untidy, but is irrelevant when you are going to bung it all in your boot trim, you cant see it

For a start it's not an advertising pitch as I have no connection with, or anything to gain by, advertising or even mentioning this product.
Secondly, As AMDBSNick states 'Doubt its an advert as its not James' style' - absolutely correct!
I purely mentioned it as alternative PROFESSIONAL solution.
Thirdly, it sounds exactly the same kit as bogie.
Fourthly, I'm somewhat surprised (naively) that people who buy a £35/40+K cars will stick a £20 ebay item in their car but hey...it's up to you!
Just don't come crying to me when something melts or goes up in flames!
