Think this might be the best option, don't think it would take much to accidentally drop some tarmac or concrete into the dip where the wheels would go. The plank bolted down would be far too noticeable.Looks to me that the pavement is Tarmac on ether side, but the end of you drive is laid with small paviors (cobbles) which extend across the pavement to meet the road. Lifting the paviors and relaying to form a more gradual slope is not a major job. Shouldn't cost more than a grand or so, which if you plan to stay there for a while would be a good investment.

Exactly what I'm after, though I'm still going to attempt a full frontal entry to fully gauge the angle of the dangle
