In the main I've owned Porsche (air-cooled) 3.2, 930 (5speed), 964 etc over the last 15 years or so but have a hankering for a V8 Vantage. Looks are stunning and I've read good reviews etc. The 4.3 is fine by me MY 2006/7 is where I want to be so could you advise best options to look out for or indeed must have etc, any feedback is most welcome.

Do it, you won't regret it.....There are loads of posts on here regarding what to look out for.

Look for full Aston service history and if you're looking for a 2006 ish model, check the clutch has been done.

1. Get Grants book, its in the sticky.

Otherwise I'd say 2007MY and premium audio, everything else is gravy.

Thanks guys. I'll check the book out and take it from there. Won't touch anything without a FSH and condition must be excellent although I'm not adverse to correcting a few issues for the better car. Already taking stick from friends as I've always been a diehard Porsche type but it's time to move on and the Vantage fits the bill cool

I would say to go for the 4.7 if you can make it work. It's a much quicker car. The 4.3 really did feel underpowered.

Cheers

Gone from 996 to 4.3 doesn't feel slow to me.

I went from a C4S 996 to a 4.7. If you can go for the bigger engine but the way both V8's deliver is different from the Porsches. Even the 4.3 will bring a "different" smile to your face than the Porsche.

Thanks for the feedback guys much appreciated, in terms of 4.3 or 4.7 I would obviously need to drive both to enable any meaningful personal opinion but I' have driven the 996/997 Turbos which take some beating in the speed stakes and apart from the odd burst of speed on UK roads it seem the track is one of the only places left to enjoy a fast car these days.

So although I don't want a slowcoach, I do want style, sound, a sence of occasion and more importantly a big smile which the Aston would bring (I hope). I'll warn you now I also suffer from OCD where my cars are concerned....wobble

My first run out 4 years ago was in the DB9 with Mikey's 4.7 and Quinny's 4.3 (oh, and Ash's Porker). There was no noticeable power difference between the 4.3 and the 4.7, with two very skillful drivers behind the wheels.

They were some way off in the distance, mind you hehe

The brokers got nothing to worry about.
Rumour has it, you worry about the challenge of getting the DBS out of the drive and then you panic about parking anywhere in case anyone dinks it. Then you drive back home; st yourself getting the car back in the drive and then take the Corsa down to Aldi.

With the greatest respect (yeah right) I suggest you give the DBS to me and I'll upgrade your Corsa to the latest model for free.
You get worry free motoring and I live in the satisfaction of helping you out.
