I have an occasional creak from the N/S rear of the car which I have a hunch may well be just an ageing ARB bush underneath one of the U clamps, but frustratingly can't seem to replicate it at all on the driveway. Anyone know if this is a common issue and worth the modest expense of just replacing them on spec?

Try spraying with WD40 or similar an see if it goes away.
This should quieten a creaky bush for a while, confirming if it is the ARB bushes creaking.

If it's an older or higher mileage car, then worth replacing anyway, IMO.

Good idea but don't use WD40 it eats rubber!
Use a silicon based spray

I thought the general consensus was that it was too thin, water based and pretty rubbish for anything other than a door hinge confused

Try using a copper grease spray. It should confirm whether it is the bush or not.
