Morning all,

Hoping for some advice.

I had the ' DSC service required ' light flag up last week.

Took the car (2007 V8 Vantage) to an Aston specialist. Apparently I need one ABS pressure sensor to fix the problem but I'm told they can't get just one and have to replace the whole ABS unit for around £2000.

I have visions of the small plastic peace I need and paying £2000 for a whole new unit seams crackers!

Are these sensors really not sold separately?

Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks

mikey k

They are taking the piss!
If it is truly just the ABS sensor they are available individually
A fair few on here have had single ones replaced as and when required

My ABS unit packed up due to corrosion of the valve body, sent it off to a firm called BBA Reman and was told it could be repaired but parts on back order from ATE, so waited a few weeks but parts still not available.
Long and short I bought a new one from AM £1300, and fitted it myself but could not bleed the brakes properly had to take it to local dealer to use their diagnostics to modulate the valves in the ABS unit to get all the air out £200 bill.

2007 V8s have the ABS pressure sensor in the master cylinder, it's not an expensive part, although the labour to fit and bleed the system needs to be considered. Later modules have the pressure sensor in the ABS module so maybe your specialist is getting confused between the two.

If you're replacing the ABS Module, always ask for a "Wet filled Service part", these have had the valves actuated and already have fluid in the low pressure accumulators, saves having to plug it into the works servicing tool.

Jesus, what specialist was that?!

You can pop down to the local Ford dealer also, just a Standard part off the old Focus.

It even states in the Ebay listing for this part from AM dealer HWM "The most likely cause of your dashboard DSC lamp illuminating will be the failure of your transducer"
