BMW 640d Gran Coupe - I've done 50k miles in 30 months, its got the ZF 8 speed box, more torque than a Vanquish (although unfortunately not the power), but then it does do over 40mpg, it has suspension that fiddles with the roll bars in corners and a setting I like to call "sea sick mode", plus navigation that tells you the weather and what you should wear when you get there.

I've done the big 4x4 thing and of all the cars I've owned, it was the one I kept the shortest time.

I went in to the local Land Rover dealer two weeks ago determined to buy a Range Rover Sport and to my great surprise ended up with a Discovery instead. There just wasn't enough space in the former (I need the 3rd row of seats regularly otherwise the kids beat the hell out of each other). And frankly I don't need a second car with a strong 0-60 time (which apart from the badge seemed to be the main selling point for the RR over the Disco)

I was mightily impressed by the latter, they seem to have moved on a long, long way from the early Discoverys I drove 20 years ago

I was in the LR dealer yesterday for a service, spotted a new RRS that looked tasty. Of course it was the "SVR" version with bucket like racing seats ...I couldn't quite believe the £129,995 price though. Range Rover certainly are moving up market, with £75K diesel Sports, £50K + Discovery and £100K + Range Rovers

...maybe its just me, and inflation of recent years went by unnoticed except in Land Rover product pricing wink

Mad isn't it, but they are selling because the product is excellent. Great for the UK smile

Audi A8 3.0 diesel exec. Love it. Supremely comfortable. Totally designed with driver comfort and convenience in mind. Cheap as chips to run and surprisingly quick too.

I concur. The product is excellent. I've just bought a new 15MY RRS as the family "bus". So impressed over the last model range. It's comfortable, lighter, smoother and very luxurious...don't need the full fat one either with it's stupid Jaguar gear selector!!

2003 Porsche Cayenne. Far better car than I expected, and surprisingly fun on a twisty road!

Owned one too in between Range Rovers. Big mistake, most awful car I ever owned, holds the road well but at the price of comfort. Proved less reliable than any Range Rover I ever owned.
Everyday car currently is a L405 Range Rover Supercharged Autobiography. It is superb.

Did yours have Air suspension? On Comfort setting, I find it very comfortable.

am lining myself up for rangie and undecided between the petrol sport and a diesel full fat.
those IMO are the two sensible options for very different reasons.
have put nearly 120,000 miles on my very childish drug dealer special which has not put a foot wrong but now showing her age so i need to think about retiring it

Yeah, great products, even comparing a 5 year old one you can see the improvements in technology and quality. Im still more than happy to buy and drive 3 year old + models for less than half price smile

No that is the one essential option it didn't have.

Owned a Cayenne GTS 2013 model year with air suspension, not as comfortable as a FFRR or even RRS but boy what a superb vehicle. The V8 sounded superb, handled like no other 4x4 on the road and comfortable enough. More reliable than any of the other 3 previous Range Rovers I've had. Don't mention the RR Diesel Particulate Filters to me...limp mode and stuck in Scotland 300 miles from home!

I don't buy Diesel, I think Range Rovers should have a V8 petrol engine.

+1 from me. I live very rural and find Disco 4 amazing town or country. Wife has the Freelander. AM for going on "proper roads"

Best of all worlds.

Where do these names come from?

Presumably they gave you a book, when you collected your car.

Although it does have the AMG suspension package, I find the ride in my E220 Coupe very comfortable. It still holds the corners beautifully too.
