Unless newer Astons have improved damping spectacularly we all need an alternative drive where you don't feel every statutory undertakers pathetic attempt at a surface repair resonating through your back. Old Citroens used to be the answer ,some volvos sailed over pot holes . At the moment I drive an i3 around town and the suspension is space age compared to the Aston.Any other suggestions for an easy life ?

My 2011 Virage drives pretty comfortably over suburban roads in normal mode at sensible speeds.

Not thought of getting anything else, especially as I only drive at weekends.

When my modern sports car, so wide and with big low profile tyres becomes an over powered bore, I find my DB4 very comfy - nice soft seat, good ride, easy to see out, and narrow enough to carve your way around the country lanes without panicking about the white van coming at you. It's also forgiving if you forget to change gear, has no computers or satnav to get you mad, and just a light touch on the wooden rim keeps you flowing along nicely.

The other half has a cheap diesel Volvo that goes up and down the motorway for 20k miles a year very comfortably at 50mpg. I have had a couple of Range Rover products now and would always like to have one in the fleet for daily use. I do 400-500 miles a week in it, love the comfort and space, general all weather convenience which is handy if you live at the end of a farm track

I did use the Vantage for a couple of years daily, it was fine, but not *that* comfortable for hours spent on the motorway. Also Not ideal at 5am on a frosty winters morning run to the airport and I just started to take it for granted

I still reckon the best upgrade is to drive something different a few days per week....

I'm with Neil on this one but currently changing from RR Sport to LR Sport.
Will be interesting to see the difference on a longish journey.

No problem with the dbs ride quality ,I do have a second car for hauling the dogs around and also I do not feel right turning up to tenants asking for rent payments driving an Aston (plus every job quote gets doubled when workmen see the Aston) so I have an audi allroad for everyday use.Superb ride quality and better to drive than any SUV by a mile.

Please God, no.

Perhaps if we stop posting Nick will withdraw his latent threat idea

If the question is: is there a car that has performance and a smooth ride:
Try a McLaren 12C or 650S for a smooth ride. Unbelievably smooth in normal mode...and *quite* quick!

And has a reasonably sized boot and a shelf.

yes The proper one not the sport though. I'd go for the previous shape too, the new one is way too big and ugly.

Don't buy an S line Audi if you want a good ride... way too hard for all the potholes on the roads round my way.

Im so with you on this....the petrol 2015 super charged one,,,, I drive it when I want power, comfort and power-steering...all the things the Vantage does not.

But I still love the look of the Aston, and its still an experience to drive, curbed the LH front wheel while loving the blind spot, and asked myself why bother the RR is so everything
