My condolences to you Howard about your wife! Just reiterates life is very short and we must all follow our dreams...... never mind the expense! Ahem!

When seeing the above yearly bills, my heart literally sank! My dream of owning a 2007/2008 (my budget'ish!) seemed shattered. There is no way I could justify bills like that on any car. Glad to read the comments from you owners. Obviously the previous owners was a very wealthy chap. So, back to my search, GULP!!! I'm guessing buying a DB9 Volante from a specialist such as Mcgurk will give me a safer option!? Anyone?
Premium warranty from a dealer pretty much negates most of that.

Not sure you would get a 'premium' warranty at that age. More likely a lower grade 'classic' etc. Try Warranty Wise as they will be cheaper but they have more clauses than Lapland at Xmas - just like AM warranties...

I recall one explanation to the big maintenance costs, when reading this topic originally. It appears that the original owner was doing the high annual mileage, but wanted to avoid extra workshop visits. Therefore any work anticipated was carried out early, eg full sets of new tyres being fitted early, because even though only part worn, they would need replacing before the next routine service. I even think a complete new roof was fitted, instead of having a minor repair.

Any ten year old car, that originally had a high price, will obviously have the risk of expensive repairs, but the figures shown above are probably far higher than most DB9 owners experience.

My god, the previous owner must of had deep pockets, the service & repair bills above are more than the purchase price of my 2005 DB9 !!

Sometimes you have to wonder how good the engineering is on these cars, BMW's go well over 106K miles and nothing is spent on them and just a service every 20K miles. but the driving experience is 1000 times better than any of my BMW's i've owned and the comments and attention the car gets makes owning my DB9 priceless !!

Plenty of BMWs have had plenty of serious engine problems well before 106K miles, such as bore wear and VANOS failures, and especially for various M cars, catastrophic rod bearing failures.

Yes you are right, plus the dreaded N42 timing chain failure issue which would destroy the engine. The difference is that the above car had no major engine issues but the owner still spent over £35K in service/repair bills during ownership, that is just staggering!

You are dead right the previous owner was very wealthy & took car into Aston every 6 months & told them to replace anything it may need in next 6 months as he didn't have time for in between garage visits.
This included tyres brake pads discs etc anything approaching 50% wear was replaced.
This was his daily driver that he cherished along with fleet of "more special" cars for fun days out.
