I have put calls in to a couple of dealers to see what they have in V12 range...as to budget that isn't an issue. I have also been looking at a Bentley GT3R that has come on the market just shy of £240k. So having a look at as well.

Reluctantly, I would now have to disagree. Best looking? - arguably. Best Gaydon car? Things have moved on.

Ok... book yourself in for a 15MY+ Vanquish (Touchtronic III 8-speed) and V12 Vantage S, so you can compare best GT & more focussed sports car, you must also try the Roadster/Volante if possible. I see you are in the south east, so try Gavin & Matt at Grange, if you are serious see if you can get a dealer 1/2 day at Millbrook to test the cars as intended smile

Ok guys I'm interested in buying an Aston...Am looking at a new one..so which one? V12 DB9?
Per budget comment, what about a DBRS9, V12 GTE and then pay for SVA for UK Road use?

Not really practical proposals, but given the budget, I'd suggest a special order manual V12 Vantage S. Apparently, you can now order one. That would be the best current Aston Martin. The DBS owners don't like to hear it, but the V12V is a better drive. The shorter wheelbase and lower weight (by 170kg) make a significant difference.

Oh, who cares about practical when you can get one of those on the road for under the price of the Bentley GT3R?

All this practical talk, anyone would think you are a lawyer...

Much better than the short arsed Vantages.
I admit the DBS has the edge which is why a certain geezer,no names no pack drill ,needs one to pull a bird. laugh

My suggestion would be the latest Vanquish, or if you want the smaller body, then Vantage V12S (which rumour has it, is now available with a manual gearbox as an option).

Possibly a chat with Paul Bailey (in your league) might be helpful. Even with top Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche, he did choose a pair of Aston Martin Vantage GTE cars for his racing.

Most of us here, just love the slightly understated beauty of our Astons.

Please let us know what you eventually decide.

Do you write the script, for some people who speak to me in filling stations?

As you well know, hard graft is more certain than odds of about 13,000,000 to one (soon I hear to be 45,000,000 to one, although the bigger prizes will tempt the punters, and so sell more tickets). Do they teach maths in school now?
