What is it with Sat Nav's??????
I've had the Volvo one, now the Garmin. Is it me or is there something in the Aston spec that says "must try to get the driver to go down the narrowest farm fkin track, even if there is an easier route."?
The Garmin is a nice improvement, fast, good graphics. Lots of improvements, but why in the name of a sheeps hairy assed winnet do these things try and get you head to head with a welsh tractor on a narrow road at every opportunity?

Or is it just Welsh roads?

silly

It's just country roads - had the same with every sat nav I've had, Garmin, the Volvo unit and Tom Tom - great 90% of the time!

Not in my experience.

Although I very rarely use the Satnav (Volvo HDD), recently I drove past the same landmark in Wokingham twice. I realised that the device had taken me on a five mile circular route, and was obviously giving instructions to follow the same route again.

When used before it has been accurate, but on that occasion it was just bizarre.

Has anyone else experienced the endless circular route satnav error?
Or, any other strange experiences with the satnav?

Are you sure it's not set to take you the shortest route rather than the fastest which should keep you on the main roads?

Quite possible.

Also, if you never actually reach the point you are aiming for it will constantly reroute you until you do. I had this on a runout with Mikey and I was the team leader of the slow group - we caught the fast groups up on three occasions btw - and one of the preprogrammed points on the route was over an optional bridge. As I never went over the bridge it kept telling me to return to the bridge as we had never hit that mark. Fortunately I knew the area well so could just ignore the instructions until we stopped to zero it out smile

LOL. Yup, very sure!
I suppose all nav's have weirdness. It's just more annoying in these cars when it sends you up a road that you know you'll end up reversing back down when you're head to head with a tractor. The other day I was out in my snotter and it tried to take me off the motorway onto the roundabout and straight back on it again!! How is coming off a motorway and back on faster??? smile

Suck it up and move on.

Ah yes, that was Charlie who did some of the software programming.
It was his last day at that firm, and he so hated his boss.
He always was a joker. - smile

The one in my Beemer cost me an air suspension bag so rough was the road it took me on! I also had a Garmin that took me up to the mouth of the Newport transporter bridge and a huge quayside drop (closed c 1929)! They are all much the same but factory fitted units that are a few years old are extortionate and terrible in my experience.

I still have it in the back of my mind to remove the screen in the Aston and clip in the Tom Tom 1005 I have - its excellent and connected to live traffic, Google search and user uploaded speed cam databases via a data SIM card.

I will as I need to change the cracked ski slope anyway with the spare I have - all that is needed is double sided Velcro and a piggy back connector on existing Sat Nav's 12 volts. I take the Tom Tom with me as back up when I am in the car anyway...wobble

Same with my phone - too wide for the drinks holder. Usually now found underneath passenger seat!

I cannot win with you lot.
I have attempted today in my posts to stay on topic and make valuable contributions to those topics ,giving the benefit to other forum members of my in depth knowledge, instead of my usual tosh.
And what happens, crass innuendo from some geezer called Brent. laugh

I love those little roads. I've only been led badly astray twice when the road has run out, although I've had a few drives thinking how much I hoped I didn't meet a vehicle coming the other way.

Your contributions are always interesting.
I worry slightly when I cannot spot any humour though. Am thinking I must have missed the joke.

You mentioned today, being very pleased with the roof movement. Perhaps that was some of your in depth knowledge, and not a joke at all. - smile

Hi Jon ,always a pleasure to hear from you,a most perceptive and intelligent forum contributor.
I was indeed serious about the roof it is efficient and does not involve anything more than holding down the button, the only improvement would be if one did not need to keep the button depressed.

The Garmin one in my V12VS has taken me into three different Morrisons' car parks. The one in my V8VS didn't work north of Milton Keynes. I keep a map in the car for important journeys.

yikes

That's very downmarket Phil, maybe the sat nav doesn't know you're driving an Aston.
I'd definitely get it sorted before any of your acquaintances sees you in Morrisons.
