The Vulcan may be very fast on the track, but not the prettiest car in the world?

It's not perhaps as classically beautiful as a DB5 or DB9, but I think it looks fabulous in its own way. Would love to see one being driven in anger around a track

I don't really see the point of it.

Ferrari and Lambo have done similar follies (could barely see any point in those either), but their finances are in far better shape and the basic product they're selling is miles ahead of Aston's in most respects.

When the new DB9/V8V come out I may sound like chicken licken. The product might be that good that any concerns about the key people being distracted were unfounded.

We'll see.

Meanwhile, if some of the design cues make it through to production models than I think the styling side will probably be OK - moving it forwards without being too derivative. But then styling has never been an issue for Aston post Virage...

Had a chance to have a look at the Vulcan very close up at Goodwood. It really looks and sounds like a beast and does the fact that I could never in a million years afford one doesn't take away from how impressive this car is. Whilst we were stuck up at the top of the hill waiting for Andy Green's shunt to be cleared had a chance to speak to Darren Turner and Marek Reichman about the Vulcan. Fascinating 20 minutes and thanks to both for their time.

A few pictures:

Off on a slight tangent but this is a picture of one of the CC100's built - colour scheme look familiar?

Oh, and did I mention I was only at the top of the top of the hill because I had just been taken up there by Les Goble in this?

Do days get any better than this?

Certainly designed for the priority of performance, but I think the side view silhouette does hint at traditional Aston Martin.

I certainly agree it looks much better in some of the other colours I have now seen (the matt Grey looked like a wrap and did not do it justice)

From the short video clips I have seen it would appear that even the AM Pro drivers have lots of trouble getting it to plant the 800 BHP down, nerves of steel required for amateur owner drivers (and deep pockets)
The BBC video shows lots of support crew required including the transporter

I saw the clay Vulcan in NYC at the auto show a couple months ago. I thought it was great for a track car, and I think the design has a lot of potential for the next generation of production cars. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with the new cars based on the Vulcan.

And my oh my, what a sound that thing makes!

Saw that on Saturday, it is such a beautiful car. I want one... with proper doors!
