Hello all, I'm looking for a little advice about a little issue I experienced today (2007 V8 Manual) ...

- On a couple of occasions (not all the time) the clutch felt heavier than usual and I had a little difficulty getting it into gear.

- With clutch fully depressed (still in gear) and the car moving, I can hear a whirring noise that slows to a stop (like a shaft rotating to a stop). When taking it out of gear (clutch still depressed) the whirring stops immediately.

- No weird noises and drives normally when clutch is engaged (foot off the pedal) and in gear. No sign of slipping.

Does this sounds like a case of needing a new clutch (it's probably due one given mileage)? Or maybe a pilot / release bearing? .

Thanks

Rich

The whirring noise sounds like the clutch release bearing I think?

Definitely sounds like the release bearing to me, not sure why it feels heavy only sometimes, mine is heavy all the time.

Also Rich, mind the stealers. I was told over two years ago that my clutch would fail imminently. 12000 miles later still drives the same.

Hi Rich,

Time to go for the lightweight flywheel and twin plate clutch as a replacement.

I think I heard that DAE fit them but not sure if they use the correct parts..... I am sure there are 'Other' Indies that can do it.
