Hi Folks,

I've just purchased some new anodised aluminium door sill tread plates to replace my scuffed polished metal ones. I have a feeling they won't come with bolts - which means the old bolts I have might have to be used - which are also polished. They're going to look a little weird. Wondered if anyone else has these plates and could tell me what bolts they have?

Cheers

Chris

My V8VS has black plates, the bolts are shiny silver.

Hope that helps smile

You can only anodise Aluminium most diy places will only have plated or stainless bolts. Aluminium bolts are available in a variety of anodised colours on line like these http://www.gwr-fasteners.co.uk/aluminium-fasteners...

Somewhere like Demon Tweeks will have every colour bolt under the rainbow, and charge you the pot of gold you would find at the end.

I used polished stainless steel button heads on the applique plate M5x12 and polished M5x20 stainless countersunk hex heads on the panel. You may need to tap threads in them though because I believe mine were self tappers originally.

You can used anodised aluminium fasteners and they are around the same price as the stainless, but the anodise will wear off if you scuff your shoes across them, and they will fade with time.
