Chaps, the Vantage needs a service, and also has a central locking problem, whereby you can no longer lock the car with the central locking button. Apparently this is a failed module.

Stratstone Mayfair (Aston dealer) want £1000 for a 9 year service, without any repairs to the lock. This seems a little steep to me - anyone have any independents in and around London that they could recommend? I have heard of Nicholas Mee - anyone else?

Well worth the trip to Trinity Engineering in Cobham, Tim and team do a great job. It's not cheap, but it's great value. The service they do is AM recommended ++

Have you done window resets and popped fuses for the door modules? Can sometimes help any niggling locking / shutting issues.

I've been quoted £724 for a year 9 service by AM Works. A bit out of london I know, but as another main dealer, surely demonstrates that Mayfair is overcharging there. DAE quoted me not much over £500 just for a bit of specialist comparison.

Er, £1600. Not a chance.

I got a lovely e-mail from them stating why they cost so much, and the level of care they took, and were this an appreciating classic Aston Martin, I would agree with them.

But on a 2007 V8 Vantage, that is insanity. And this is from a man who runs a Morgan Aero 8, so understands the concept of cars that are expensive to service...

Bamford Rose. They are a good bunch of people and charge sensible prices. It's a way out of London up the M40 but it's manageable...

Indeed - not cheap, but I weighed that against issues between services and felt it was good value when I didn't have a warranty to fall back on - I'm not sure I ever paid full price. Many people happy with main dealers (although one local to me inspired no confidence) and there are a range of indy's around. Try David Appleby, Nick Mee, BR, Bridge Mill or McGurk - all have strong support from various people here smile
