I've just opened the curtains this morning......it looks like winter has arrived, or certainly autumn.

I don't have the luxury of a garage so my Vantage Roadster sits out in the elements on the drive. I was wondering what recommendations anyone has for protecting the roof?

Thanks in advance.

The TVR guys use Hood covers from a company called Leven Technology,

Perhaps a phone call to enquire if that do other marques?

I would just use a full cover if leaving for any amount of time, few days or more

When I had a soft top Lotus we used to have shower capes, which covered the roof and screen. Handy in winter to keep the frost off. Look similar to the link about to Leven. Thats what I will get again when change to a Roadster smile

I also have a V8 Vantage Roadster which sits outside in the winter.
Every summer I paint the roof with a clear waterproofing agent as recommended on here by professional detailer Paddy328.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gtechniq-I1-Smart-Fabric...

I also bought a half cover for a V8 Vantage coupe, which I modified to fit/suit the Roadster and it can be fitted/removed quickly.
The cover was circa £50 and I will look out details of it next week (we are away to Dubai today for a week).

Thanks for the replies so far.

I was actually thinking of roof protectors that I could apply but a protective hood also sounds a good idea. I had considered the Aston Martin Ultimate car cover but they seem a bit of a hassle taking on, off and storing.

Can you apply the Gtechniq with a brush?

@Manwhoneverwas - have a great holiday and if you remember I would be grateful knowing which cover you have.

Yip, apply with a paint brush, the 500ml just covers the roadster roof and the water beads and runs off easily

I've always used 303 protectant on my convertible roofs for the last 7 cars
Works very well, designed for boat covers orginally
This stuff on the Aston

In fact I may have some left over in the garage, where are you?

Some good suggestions, thank you.

I'm based in Ascot so a bit of a trek from Shropshire smile

I used to use 303 fabric guard, but only use the gtechniq I1 now. You can just spray it on, but the best thing to do is to apply it with a paint brush. You use much more product, but you get more of an even coverage and it really soaks in. Don't do it inside though without a mask, as it smells very strong.

In my Lotus days, in terms of protectant, I used to use Fabsil, brushed on and worked very well with water beading off the canvas very effectively

Thanks mikey - I got some 303 last week and applied it today, first impressions it looks pretty effective.

I have just fitted a roof cover to my mini roadster which I suspect would be similar dimensions
Elastic straps each end,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Half-Size-Roadster-2012-o...

Cats and condensation are my main opponents, only drove 1k last year and no space in garage
