To many of the general public an Aston is something to aspire to, a touch of glamour and excitement. The fact that they associate them with an exciting lifestyle (indeed even the lotto advert features a V8R) is a good thing. So the publics connection to James Bond can only be a good thing. Notice the different reactions to say, a fast moving Porsche or Ferrari, and an Aston. The first two will in all probability be sworn at or about, and various hand gestures made to the drivers, but the Aston will probably get a completely different one of "did you hear that!" or "one day i would love to own a car like that".
People associate Bond with GB, and they associate Aston's with the GB too. Patriotism with this connection is a really good thing. I would think that those that are lucky enough to own such a beautiful car as an Aston would be deemed killjoy snob's who are up their own arses should they start moaning or belittling the publics connection between to the two.
It's a bit of fun, a bit of glamour, and hopefully keeps the car keyers at bay more than you think. So smile and remember how lucky you are to actually own such a fantastic car.

I don't see the fun or glamour in going round pretending to be a fictional spy?

I see it as a bit sad to be honest.

Nobody is pretending to be a fictional spy... It is acknowledging the obvious connection between AM and the Bond franchise and all around Britishness.....

Why does it need acknowledging?

Caterham did a similar thing 30 years ago with a "Prisoner" limited edition.

Have you seen the price of these now?

Spoke to my dealer about something else earlier this week - he mentioned that Uk dealers had an allocation of 1 bond car per dealer and they have sold 3 by taking other UK dealers' unused allocations - he believes his most recent sale was the last car available meaning the edition is now sold out, although with hindsight, I didn't think to ask if that was globally or just for the UK

He claims he has given no discounts whatsoever on any of the bond DB9s

I wonder if we'll see any out on the roads or whether they're just going to disappear into storage/private collections?

I hope I am still dropping down through the gears when I approach a tunnel, to be at maximum revs when I'm going through the tunnel, at 80 years old
Agreed, but that's a man thing, we all do it at every age.
