I did think the same about the women in question :P

I cringe when anyone makes a Bond reference to me in the pub because I drive an Aston. Cheesy comments like "Shaw, David Shaw" make me wish I could turtleshell it sometimes, only coming out when they've gone. (Thankfully my friends know not to do such things)

Absolutely my discreet ,discerning compatriot.
Indeed one has to wonder whether ,when James orders his martini,he asks for it to be "shaken ...not stirred".

I don't think there has on any of the Bond cars, ever been a number plate that gave a hint as to its 007 connection. On the contrary, discretion has always been de rigueur dear boy.

The traditional standards are slipping now.

AGB = Agent Bond.

James Bond parks his modified Aston Martin Vantage, sorry DB10.

Bob,no one could be more dashing, discreet and discerning than you .
I'm so glad that I only have the ordinary " 8OND " as my number plate, no pretence on my part.
One also wonders whether James is the OPs real name or did he change it from Arthur when he got his Aston ?

Whilst as you say, I don't think any of the various DB5s used in Bond films have shown them, away from the films the cars have at various stages worn plates including
JB 007
007 JB
FMP 7B
JB Z6 007

The actual DB5s used in the bond films in some instances now still carry some of those registrations

That of course is because the DB5s in the films have only ever carried BMT216A or BMT214A, although there have been more than 2 cars used in filming

There was also a LHD DB5 used in Casino Royale, with a Bahamas plate

But I'll now get really anoraky. Ian Fleming's next door neighbour had a 1954 DB2/4 Mk1 vantage that was modified by Aston as the owner was to compete in international rallies. The mods included reinforced steel bumpers, concealed lockers, anti-interference ignition, connections for a 2 way radio, uprated speedo, etc. It was the only car in real life to have all these mods. The Aston that featured in the Goldfinger novel had the same list of mods

The reg of this car belonging to Fleming's neighbour..........JBW 974

The reality is that whilst DB5 is the model most synonymous with Bond, the brand in general is also synonymous with Bond regardless of which other Aston models actually link to Bond and which do not - I don't for instance think that anyone sees DBS mk1 as being any more or less 'Bond' than an aston model that hasn't featured in a Bond film

When seeing one of the BMT cars on show, it used to be fun to look at the tax disc, which would reveal a totally different registration mark. The original car (not sure which of the two) having been stolen and never seen again.

Another piece of innocent enjoyment, that the bureaucrats have now taken away from us.

Good luck to them. If it increases sales (which, I guess, it should do), then great.

Personally I'd rather spec my own unique DB9 GT, with a rare-yet-understated colour scheme and specially-chosen extras, rather than yet another silver/grey over black car that will be identical to 149 others.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to do a run of 500 specially-bodied Vantages, with the front grill on upside down, and a DB10 badge on the rear?

This is exact,y what surprises me.

It must have been the perfect opportunity to sell many additional cars, but they have already announced, film only.

It doesn't take a genius for them to announce that "Due to unprecedented public demand we are going to produce a limited edition of the cars ".
They could even incorporated that 007 ste they're putting on the DB9 GT,not to my taste, but no doubt our friend James would have bought one,to go with his 007 number plate.
Seems a nonsense to me,it doesn't make commercial sense, cannot imagine why they didn't use the current Vanquish a much better looking car.
P.S. Just to set the record straight,my comments re.James are tongue in cheek,in case anyone should imagine I'm a bigoted old git. laugh

I've not had a bad word said about it since day one - the only negativity seems to be on this forum.

Each to their own as you all say...but I'll tell you one thing, the ladies LOVE it! wink
Ay yay yay.

Why on earth would anyone want a 007 numberplate, one that is illegally spaced on top frown
