+1.
Unless either of you know him first hand I wish such comments would leave PH. And "I met him in a pub once while he was with his friends and he didn't talk to me" doesn't count.
Mr Hollywood is a well known baker so he must make the odd "Kob" (Northern bread) and he does "compete" in Aston's, so perhaps the poster was being observant.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the paint defect that Paul Hollywood spotted and the paint quality guy had just missed.
yes Speaks volumes that hehe

Most worrying statement was Mr Palmer saying they have a new model per year for the next six years and each one relies on the previous one being succesful enough to support the next.
The DBX will kill that plan dead!

I just don't see that - like it or not the bigger cross-over type cars are what the market demands (especially overseas…). Porsche have had tremendous success with their Panamera, Cayenne and Macan, Audi with their Q series, Beemer with the Xs, Hell, even Bentley and Jaguar are jumping in on the act.
It would seem Mr P has brought the realisation that one needs to move with the times. Upsetting crusty members of the AMOC who get shirty because the company is moving away from the design that they bought in 1965 (and haven't contributed to since) is not going to see the survival of the company.

Yes, we all love AM and tolerate the occasional niggle for what it gives back, but there is no denying we sit in somewhat of a niche market, and sadly this niche isn't keeping the lights on at the moment.

Anyone with almost no talent (baking cakes?) and stealing a living via the TV Licence fee deserves the title complete knob.
Alternatively what could be said is;
Anyone with such a huge talent who is at the top of his game deserves a good living as he contributes to a very popular TV prog.

this type of comment annoys me.
so what is it that you do for a living that makes you so special.
are we not allowed to have "normal jobs" like a baker and excel at it ?

Upsetting "crusties" is great wink
My issue is I can see the market for the "suv's" declining and Aston (as well as Bentley & Jag) are late to the game. If they are going to succeed in it they are going to have to be significantly better/different to the others. Aston just don't have deep enough pockets, unlike Jag & Bentley

I'd agree that they are late to the game, but I can only see the SUV market continuing to expand until pretty much everything will be like that. Even the city-minis (MINI, Fiat 500 et al are being super-sized, and have you seen the size of the new fiesta?!)

Aston have always been able to make it a special place to sit, but as we have seen, keeping up with the Jones's is where they struggle - look how long it took to get iPod and phone connectivity, better sat nav and the whole usability and HMI etc compared to the competition. So it's going to need to be pretty special and cutting edge right now, with scope for upgrade.

6 new models in the next 6 years, though that's quite a big ask, even with the use of the Lagonda name in support. So what have we got? The new DB11, a replacement for the Vantage, DBX, Lagonda/Rapide and Vanquish. What else?

A sweeping generalisation on my part, but I'm sure we all know the sort - a vocal minority with too much time on their hands and nothing better to do than complain endlessly and bitterly about how it used to be, should be and what a useless effort anybody is making. They generally then sit back in a supercilious manner, happy to have shared some of their misery with others, whilst notably doing nothing about it.

I last met one at the Silverstone Classic, a chap dripping more than a knackered tap about everything from his drive in to the catering. He even complained about his experience of driving his Aston on a lap of the track. I actually found this highly amusing and as I had no association with him what so ever save our hosts I took great delight in taking a contrary position to his at every opportunity. After I'd said how much I enjoyed the food, how easy it was to get in to the parking area, the lovely weather and what a treat it was to be able to do a parade lap with so many other beautiful Astons, he seemed to take umbrage and wandered off, presumably to find someone to complain to about the relentlessly cheery bloke...

That's five models. 2 seater, 2+2, 4 seater, Chelsea tractor, supercar. The only one missing is the city car. I'm sorry but it's the Cygnet. It's coming back!! I'm going to bet in electric form. It will be a rebadged Renault Twizy, Sterling Moss drives one so he could market the Aston version.
