I did pop in to Wilsmlow at the weekend and had a good chat with Adam who was most helpful. We are going to chat again this Saturday to discuss the DB9 further.

Ps they are having their "Bond" function this weekend with the DB10 present and a DB5.

All the "new money" lottery winners are on here then oh dear. Lol

The GTR has been replaced Jon a while ago I just haven't bothered updating profile details on here. But I must add it was a spectacular car and would recommend trying one to see what the fuss is about.

Thanks Andrew I do tend to buy what I like but I like to keep resale value in mind.

Has anyone heard of or dealt with the Supercar clinic near Bolton? A car I have looked at had part history from there but I have never heard of them.

Again appreciate the views and opinions of all in helping me make up my mind as to give Aston a go. That's the beauty of PH
Well done OP for keeping a sense of humour and perspective in the face of the hilarious banter from some of the AM forum wags.

Personally I wouldn't touch a Kahn car for a variety of reasons, not just because I think that aftermarket stuff is at best value neutral and in some cases value destructive, but the world would be a dull place if we all liked the same things so go with what you like best.

I'm starting to get an uneasy feeling that the o/p might yet just have his day on taste,,,,as he watches the thread plunge ever deeper into the grey area of bar room humour. Or perhaps I need to just lighten up a little. getmecoat

Ah ha,,,I see the mods agree and have edited the 'borderline' posts.

I do not intend to battle to the death with keyboard warriors. I firmly believe that one should never argue with idiots as their tactic is to bring you down to their level and eventually beat you with experience.

I am enjoying the banter on the forum as well as the non bias opinions and advice from fellow PH.
Tomorrow will be a decider for me as I get to try a DB9 for the first time. Who knows I may find it drives like a bag of ste and look else where.

The kitted car stood out for me as bit just a bit different without being in your/you're/ur (delete as required) face. Astons are fairly common around here so wanting to be a bit different appeals.
I have always listed after a DB9 since launch in 04 but I felt I was not old enough to own a car that had a plank of wood in the dashboard (until now)
Thanks again to those contributing to this thread and who knows I may be a regular on here/hear/her in the future.

Standard DB9s are elegant and beautiful. Why would you want to ruin one with a body kit designed by a bloke out of Star Trek.

I had a look in the classified after my first post. If its the one in the low 30's I thought it actually looked OK, quite tastful mods considering its a Kahn.

But what do I know, I went and looked at a fully kitted up Overfinch Range Rover a couple of weeks ago.

Some people are Trekkies and like to live long and prosper?

Personal taste, not being one of the herd, mental illness?

Guess there are many reasons.

Well done Sir, for joining in the spirit of our banter.
We normally talk more seriously about technical, or other Aston Martin matters. As you are now aware, it is just that making body shape changes to AM cars, is extremely unpopular amongst Aston Martin owners.

Hope you enjoy your drive tomorrow. Remember that the DB9 is a fast long distance grand tourer, so it won't match a GTR as a pure sports car. The V12 Vantage models are the sports cars in the Aston model range. Having said that though, the DB9 can be 'chuckable', as some of us will have experienced, when being driven by a racing driver on the Millbrook handling course. Vicious sideways G forces.

I am sure that the DB9 owners here, will be able to answer any technical, or specification questions that you have.

I will just mention one point, so that it is not a surprise. It is possible you might find price haggling is tricky. Some of the dealers are known to be very sticky on price, but might be pursuaded to throw in something extra.

Remember that the V12 is a robust engine and 'Enhancements' can give you additional performance. Don't forget that mine is now at 520bhp and pulls to 7000rpm in every gear. (A DBS is 515bhp)...

The one at SSC? I agree. The exterior changes are not bad....hard to tell apart from a DBS kit (unless you really know what you are looking for). And as the DBS is such a beautiful car, that can't be a bad thing right?

Honestly, I was a little disappointed when I read the spec to find it was a Khan modified one. I wonder what difference it would make to people's opinions if it was not a 'Khan'? Granted, they have made some abominations. I just don't think this is one of them. It just looks right (in my opinion of course).

Those seats though!? How much would a set of lightweight buckets cost?

For circa £35k I think it's fairly well priced. Whoever buys it may take a small hit on resale due to the kit, but the starting price is already pretty low.

I was thinking of upgrading my 2007 RangeRover Sport to a 2013 model. The replacement would probably loose £35k in 4-Years....Looking at this car I'd be more tempted to keep the 2007 RRS and have the DBS lookalike for the weekends....at least it would still have some value in a few years time.

I shall now don my flame suit.

You call that discreet? eek

Frankly it looks like something out of Pixars Cars movie, with that silly cartoonish face it's now got.

Never mind a flame suit, grab your white stick and stoat down to specsavers. Have you ever seen a DBS?
