Because major mods will be an impediment to the dealer s.o.g. obligations and the warranty. If any part of the non standard parts go wrong during or shortly after sale, the dealer may be unable to mitigate loss by using their tech, parts and engineers labour.
The MIC warranty would not cover a vehicle which has been in any way modified from the Aston Martin original specification (Item 10 of their T&C's).
You assume everyone carries warranty wink

I only stated it was an impediment to the authorised dealer network and therefore its value.

Brent,

Final point. If these cars and I include DBS are going to be sooooooo valuable the shrewd investor will not give a toss whether they have MD or decent indie history. Fact.

Peace man.

You're probably right. I count myself doubly lucky, I'm neither an investor in cars nor shrewd.... And I still get to enjoy both.

Hi CSK1. a car in Scotland sold just about a week ago it was priced at £99995.
I know at least one s owner on here who paid less than that and I have seen a couple of others dip below £100k so your sarcasm has proved unfounded.
Call me a cynic but a v12 being advertised at a fiver under £100k and then the advert disappearing and claiming the delta between a v12 and a v12s is now negative is quite a leap.

I think they will give a toss. One serviced by a dealer vs an Indy will be a problem... but not as significant as one that has Indy mods. The shrewd investor buying classic cars, is looking for a car to be as close to factory spec as possible. One example, and there are many, is the Ferrari 355. The ones closest to factory spec are the ones demanding higher values.

It will be the same with Aston's. The more you mod them, especially by indies, the less valuable they will be. It may be many moons down the line but it will be so.

Another V12V in the classified section this morning.

If the seller is here, good luck.

I was at AM Edinburgh on Sunday, and after having a chat with the guys there, it seems they had no problem shifting the £100k car at all.

Yep, a white one being sold by Lawton Brook for £89,995. Wonder how much the equivalent car would sell at an authorised AM dealer now?

Vantage V12 - Autotrader

Wow, I can't believe they actually sold it in Edinburgh for £100k. Maybe as spring is approaching dealers are becoming more confident at offering these V12V cars at ever higher prices...?

Anyway, it was nice knowing you guys. Time to profit and move on... biggrin
(Nah, I love this car too much. It's gonna be my long term "classic" car...)

I don't use autotrader.

But, there's another black V12V in the PH classifieds.

£89k for a 2009 model and that's from a non official dealer?! Amazing how the price is increasing on these models...

The £85k I paid for my 2011 model from an Aston dealer last month seems like a bargain now. Was I the last one to get one at a decent price??

The ways things are going I'll be able to buy that Vanquish I've always wanted.. biggrin

EDIT: Meanwhile BMW i8 prices have completely collapsed. That was one of the contenders for my car and now you can get one from a BMW dealer for just £71.5k! Unbelievable depreciation...
