Off to test a DBS and V12VS tomorrow...Any advice?
Discussion
Hello guys, just thought I'd do a quick update as it's been a bit of time...
The V12V market seems to have vanished into thin air and the only V12VS at or below £100k is the same one from Grange Brentwood with 27k miles. As I average 10k miles a year I don't like the idea of it having 37k in 12 months. It is a good price though: under £95k.
So basically, like any other guy out there...I've obviously had to just INCREASE my budget. Oops, hope wifey doesn't find out...but it's now £115k.
The trouble is, increasing the budget means you start getting close to absolutely stunning Astons such as this beautiful Vanquish for £118k at Stratstone Western Avenue:
I think I'm in love...I could literally stare at that Vanquish all day and not even drive it. I've never seen a better looking car...
Life ain't easy, is it??

You're welcome, hope you have more luck with this one.
Keeping my fingers crossed... Anyone know the deposit to secure a car?

AM Works look for between £3,000 and £5,000, Lancasters Cambridge wanted £1,000 so I'm guessing it varies dependent on outlet and which way the wind is blowing.
I would try to put down a refundable holding deposit on credit card and then get down to them.
Manual is not allowed according to the boss or I might not have told you it was out there.
New car is not allowed according to my boss. But that's something I'll have to deal with later... I would try to put down a refundable holding deposit on credit card and then get down to them.

Good idea with the refundable deposit idea.

Interesting how the Carbon Blacks vary a bit. This one has a grey headliner, chrome grille and chrome window surrounds. In mine, all of these are black.
It's a beauty - go get it bought.
I've actually just been looking at more details of the Carbon Edition. Interesting. Some nice little details. Nice to have something slightly different to the norm for an already now rare car! It's a beauty - go get it bought.
Ben from Grange Welwyn was great along with all the other staff.
We went on a really long test drive - I've never driven a test drive car for so long. We went through a variety of roads including some great country roads and some tunnels.
The gear box was surprisingly light, the suspension was surprisingly comfortable and the smile on my face was permanent.
The deposit is paid. Apparently someone else phoned up about it as I was buying it. A few people saw it yesterday and were gonna get back to them today but I snuck early in the morning and grabbed this beautiful baby for myself. Should be ready to pickup by the weekend hopefully.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm now the proud owner of a Carbon Black Edition V12 Vantage.

PH etiquette is you're not, until it's on your drive and photos are posted on this site.....congratulations!
Hehe, I've got a bit excited...It looked really good in (carbon) black, so shiny, even in today's greyish day. I should've taken a photo or two. But as soon as I pick it up I'll post up loads and then get onto Burghley. Now the restless waiting begins....

Besides myself, off-hand I can think of damianke and cayman-black
Are they gonna give us some kind of special parking area at Burghley for our prestigious group I assume...?? damianke said:
I'm a CB owner. Best car ever. Was in York this weekend with the winter wheels and tyres on and drove back yesterday through the wind and rain. Went through some massive standing water on A roads and motorways and it didn't even blink. Winter tyres are something else...
I'm REALLY curious to see how the current wheels will cope with the wet and cold - at least it's getting closer to spring!mblade123 said:
Congratulations.
You will love it. Once it's warmed up, press the sport button and potter around in 4th. Just to hear that glorious roar
In think that why I was allowed such a long test drive - to let the tyres warm up as it was a bit skittish at the start. The funny thing is the Sport button was only turned on for like 5% of the test drive - I didn't even notice it wasn't on as I was enjoying myself so much! You will love it. Once it's warmed up, press the sport button and potter around in 4th. Just to hear that glorious roar
When it was turned on though....
You definitely feel the torque in a way the V8 can't compete with. And it feels a lot more involving than my R8. I never went above fourth gear - it just felt right there for cruising around and lower gears for noise!

I would see about getting the rear view camera fitted if you can. Made a massive difference to me when reversing
That's interesting actually. I found the V8 Vantage quite good for visibility - far better than my R8 - especially if you take off the hatchback cover over the boot. Any recommended garages to get it fitted, I assume it would be pretty expensive at Grange?IanV12VR said:
Congratulations - this has been a great thread to read!
Hehe, thanks! It's amazing how the thread evolved from getting a DBS or V12VS to then maybe a V12V and then DEFINITELY wanting one after missing out so many times on the test drive. It was meant to be.After 8 pages and over a hundred posts I've finally reached the end. Looking forward to being part of the community here and meeting people in person with their Astons.

Congrats and welcome to the club! These V12Vs sure are selling fast now - can only be a good thing for residuals!
As I said on the Winter V12V Watch thread: I kept the selling price up for you fellow V12V owners... But speaking of which, I completely forgot to ask them about other extras I was considering. Namely updating the buttons to the glass ones, getting the V12 badges on the sides like on the V12VS models and getting a camera put in. I wonder how generous Grange are...time to find out!

I think you have got yourself one of the best cars out there. Mine is storm black and I love it. I loved my 4.7 roadster when I had it but there is something about the V12 Vantage that really gets under your skin. I put a new set of PZero tyres on mine and it seems very sure footed in wet conditions.
It's the funny thing about the black - I never considered an Aston in that colour. Only when I saw it this morning did it really stand out at me. Maybe it was just the "Carbon Black" paint (or the psychological aspect of it!) but it really stood out in that colour. You put P-Zero or P-Zero Corsas on yours? I'm waiting for them to come back to me as to exactly which tyres are on my car at the moment.

Congratulations Nijius, I bought my V12V from Welwyn a couple of months ago and was very impressed with the service. I think you're car will have been made around the same time as mine, what number is it, do you know? Mine is 882. I also had a nice long test drive with no pressure, well they didn't need to apply any, I'd decided to buy it before I'd driven more than a mile. The sport button is something else! Look forward to seeing the photos.
Oooh excellent! Was yours a 2011 model as well? Yeah, they were really friendly. The car sells itself! If you don't mind me asking: did they manage to throw in anything extra with the price of the car? I'm just e-mailing them a list of a few things I forgot to ask about and see what they say...
Also, the service will be due in June which is four months away and they said they include a service if it's three months away. Unlucky!
No idea what number the car is but when I pick it up I'll post it up along with the photos!
